Abstract
The scenario-based approach has been widely used to describe the uncertainty of wind power output in optimal operation of power system. This paper introduces the typicality degree inspired from cognitive science and psychology to propose an improved scenario reduction technique for solution of dynamic economic dispatch (DED) problem with uncertain wind power output. Two key issues including initial scenarios clustering and typical scenarios selecting are elaborately discussed in the process of implementing the proposed improved scenario reduction technique. In order to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed model and method, the comparative analysis between the proposed method and other three existed scenario reduction methods is conducted on the IEEE 30-bus system under the framework of scenario-based DED problem. Some preliminary findings and interesting results are obtained and discussed. Keywords
