Regeneration of Rabbit Endometrium Following Intrauterine Instillation of Chemical Agents

Abstract
The effect of local application of different cytotoxic agents to the endometrium, the extent of the chemical injury and the ability of the epithelium to regenerate were studied. The following chemical agents were instilled: 10% formalin, 2% formalin in ethanol, copper sulfate pentahydrate pellets, talc suspension, sodium lauryl sulfate and quinacrine. The extent and type of the endometrial damage varied with the different substances. 10% formalin was the only agent that prevented endometrial regeneration and caused complete occlusion of the uterine cavity by fibrous tissue.
