A note on bolometric corrections for late-type stars and long-period variables

Abstract

The results of broad-band BVR_cI_cJHKL' photometry of late-type stars are used to define a bolometric correction BC_Ic as a function of (V-I)_c or (R-I)_c, where m_bol = I_c + BC_Ic. The bolometric corrections BC_H and BC_K are also derived, and simple analytic expressions are given for BC_Ic, BC_H, and BC_K as functions of color index.
