Abstract
This paper reviews the technology of some of the concepts which are applicable to electrically heated clothing systems, and which have been examined by the Ministry of Defence. Some of these systems are already in military and civilian use, whereas others are experimental. The essential features which an electrically heated clothing system must possess are discussed. Brief technical details of six different heating systems are given, together with performance, durability, specific attributes and estimated costs. A brief survey of heating control systems suitable for military use is outlined, together with the necessary prerequisites for optimum performance coupled with size and weight. Keywords
