Abstract
The title reaction proceeds in the presence of Sml2 or Sml3 in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature, probably via intermediary formation of samarium enolates from α-halo ketones, to give 2-hydroxy-1, 4-di-ketones in good yields.Keywords
