Abstract
In a study of the growth of various body parts of the ostrich, only the growth of the head could be described with the Gompertz function. The growth of the ostrich head (y in g) with time (x in months) is described by the Gompertz function y = 613 exp[−ln (613/133) exp(−0·26x)]. This information could be used in the design of carcass classification systems. Keywords
