Abstract:The visitor book belonging to astronomers Sir William Herschel and his sister Caroline Lucretia Herschel MS 80/031 (VBK/16/1) contains previously unidentified references to Lord Byron’s two visits to their Observatory House in Slough, England.1 The book (hereafter VBK 16/1) is archived in the Caird Library, located within the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England. The book appears to be predominantly written in Caroline’s hand and records Byron’s two visits as follows:
