Studies on the Crystal Forms of Tropicamide: Preparation, Characterization and Dissolution Profile

Abstract
Tropicamide is an anticholinergic drug which is used in the treatment of glaucoma. Polymorphic study of tropicamide is done by using solvents viz Chloroform, Dichloromethane, Isopropanol, Benzene, Acetone, Ethanol, Methanol, Tween 80, Povidone K30, PEG 4000 and Phosphate Buffer. Crystals of all the solvents were made with tropicamide out of which best stability of the compound was found with benzene, acetone, ethanol and methanol. Crystals were compared using various methods like Dissolution, DSC, XRD, and IR spectroscopic.
