Abstract
Husserl's reflections on sacrifice bring to the fore the dilemmatic character of ethical life and the conflicts that we face regarding self-responsibility and responsibility for the others. The paper focuses on Husserl's late analysis on this topic, enlightens its relation to the concepts of "ethical love", "vocation" "absolute ought" and "self-forgetfulness" and approaches the phenomenon from a double perspective present in Husserl's analysis: the sacrifice in the decision between absolute values and sacrifice of one's self for the other and the community.
