Family History of Gastric Cancer and Helicobacter pylori Treatment

Abstract
To the Editor: In the trial reported by Choi et al. (Jan. 30 issue),1 participants with Helicobacter pylori infection were assigned to receive eradication treatment or placebo. Patients in the treatment group received clarithromycin-containing triple therapy twice a day for 7 days. At the end of the trial, patients in either group who were still infected with H. pylori were treated with bismuth-based quadruple therapy for 10 days.1 It is important to note that the American College of Gastroenterology guidelines for H. pylori treatment underwent updates during the time the trial was being conducted.2-4 Clarithromycin-based triple therapy is no longer . . .
