Abstract
This article aims to analyse the ways in which Alonso de Castillo Solorzano used Italian sources for his novel Los amantes andaluces, at the height of the Spanish novela corta. The author from Valladolid was aware of the literary taste of the time -"esto pide este tiempo"- and he intentionally used the narrative material that he had at his disposal. Following his usual modus operandi, the author put heterogeneous elements together in order to reach the greatest number of readers. He mixed suggestions from both the novellieri and the byzantine paradigm, and sometimes he recycled elements of his own literary production. As a result, it is difficult to form an exhaustive picture of his universe of literary references. In this paper we will study the narrative framework of Los amantes andaluces, whose model could be the novella VI, II, Hecatommiti by Giraldi Cinzio, and we will also analyse the sources of the Porcia and Tancredo's novela, within in the same framework.
