Dealing with DGGE images by using ant colony systems and fuzzy logic

Abstract

This work introduces a hybrid approach for dealing with the problem of detecting edges in DGGE images. It is important to have an efficient mechanism for precisely detecting band edges, because these images are typically used for the identification of microorganisms in ADN samples. The hybrid approach combines ant colony systems and fuzzy logic. Results obtained with this approach are better than those obtained with other mechanisms.
