The term technoscience is usually used without any criticism, only to point to all types of contemporary scientific production, even being used as a synonym for the science of the 21st century. In this paper we will define what technoscience is, what can be called technoscience and what not. As a product of the same analysis, we will obtain a vision of the social role that this phenomenon plays in our contemporary reality and, with it, a vision of the relationship between technoscience, our socio-cultural environment and power relations. El término tecnociencia se utiliza usualmente sin ninguna criticidad para señalar todo tipo de producción científica contemporánea, llegando incluso a emplearse como sinónimo de la ciencia del siglo xxi. En el presente artículo se delimitará qué es la tecnociencia, a qué se le puede llamar de esta manera y a qué no. Como producto del mismo análisis se obtendrá una visión del rol social de dicho fenómeno en nuestra realidad contemporánea y, con ello, una visión de la relación entre la tecnociencia, nuestro entorno sociocultural y las relaciones de poder.
