Abstract
Overweight and obesity are present in more than half of patients seen in primary care settings and are often accompanied by insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and related comorbid diseases.1,2 Excess adiposity can be successfully managed with lifestyle programs that promote weight loss,3 although long-term success rates outside of specialized centers remain limited.4,5 Additionally, only a small percentage of patients with severe obesity are candidates for bariatric surgical procedures.6Keywords
