'A Map Is Not the Territory'; Sherlock Holmes’s Use of Maps

Abstract

On five occasions in the Sherlock Holmes Canon, Holmes uses a map. All five of those occasions, three of them involving an ordnance map, are discussed. Also discussed are two occasions on which Holmes uses a gazetteer.
