A Comparative Analysis of the Impact-WaveAnalogy Cyber-Resilience Framework

Abstract
A number of different Cyber-Resilience Frame-works have been proposed as a way to guide responses to cyber-attacks. The Impact-Wave Analogy (IWA) is a recently proposedframework that allows for for dynamic and hierarchical cyber-resilience analysis. To advance its application, this paper exploreshow IWA compares to other resilience frameworks. Through aStructured Literature Review, five cyber resilience frameworksare identified and compared to IWA. The first analysis aimsto understand and comparatively describe the flexibility andadaptability of the frameworks. The second analysis identifieshow the frameworks compare to one another based on statisticaland parametric information. The findings indicate the primaryweakness of IWA to be the lack of testing and implementationto prove its capabilities, as compared to the other frameworks. However, IWA is adaptable, clear, and accounted for all stagesof cyber resilience.
