Abstract
Objective: The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between smartphone addiction, and problem-solving skills, and coping with stress in adults. In addition, it is aimed to examine the sociodemographic variables related to smartphone addiction. Method: The sample consisted of 306 adults (183 females, 123 males). Problem-solving Inventory, Ways of Coping Inventory, Smartphone Addiction Scale and Demographical Information Form had been used to collect data. SPSS 25.0 package program was used to analyze the data and the significance level was accepted as p <0.05 in all statistical evaluations. Results: In the study, it has been shown that participants who have no self-confident approach have higher levels of smartphone addiction in coping with stress than those who chose other coping styles. Moreover, it was found that smartphone addiction scores of male participants were significantly higher than female participants, smartphone addiction scores of those in early adulthood were significantly higher than those in middle adulthood, and as daily smartphone usage time has increased, smartphone addiction level has increased, too. Conclusion: According to the results of the study, it was found that the way of coping with stress was especially effective on smartphone addiction which is considered as a behavioral addiction today. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, yetişkinlerde akıllı telefon bağımlılığı ile problem çözme becerileri ve stresle başa çıkma tarzları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Ayrıca akıllı telefon bağımlılığı ile ilişkili olan sosyodemografik değişkenlerin incelenmesi de amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışmanın örneklemi 306 yetişkinden (183 kadın, 123 erkek) oluşmaktadır. Verilerin toplanmasında Problem Çözme Becerisi Envanteri, Stresle Başa Çıkma Tarzları Envanteri, Akıllı Telefon Bağımlılığı Ölçeği ve Demografik Bilgi Formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analiz edilmesi için SPSS 25.0 paket programı kullanılmış ve tüm istatistiksel değerlendirmelerde, anlamlılık düzeyi p<0.05 olarak kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: Bu çalışmada stresle başa çıkmada kendine güvensiz tarza sahip olan katılımcıların diğer başa çıkma tarzlarını seçenlere göre akıllı telefon bağımlılık düzeylerinin daha yüksek olduğu gösterilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra erkek katılımcıların kadınlara göre, ilk (erken) yetişkinlik dönemindekilerin orta yetişkinlikte olanlara göre akıllı telefon bağımlılık puanlarının anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğu ve günlük akıllı telefon kullanım süresi arttıkça akıllı telefon bağımlılık düzeyinin arttığı bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, günümüzde bir davranışsal bağımlılık olarak ele alınan akıllı telefon bağımlılığı üzerinde özellikle stresle baş etme tarzının etkili olduğu bulunmuşturKeywords
