¿Alquimistas mentecatos? Traducciones inglesas de La garduña de Sevilla, 1665-1792

Abstract
Cet article a pour objectif d’étudier la réception de Castillo Solórzano en Angleterre entre la fin du xviiie siècle et la fin du xviiie siècle. L’étude analyse cinq œuvres anglaises qui dérivent entièrement ou en partie de La garduña de Sevilla. Elle analyse plus particulièrement ce que doivent ces œuvres à un intermédiaire français et, plus tard, à la première traduction en anglais par John Davies de Kidwelly (1665). Les ‘traducteurs’ qui suivaient, y compris le personnage controversé Sir Roger l’Estrange, ont adapté le travail de Davies de manières diverses.Keywords
