Abstract
A number of mechanisms modify thyroid hormone signaling at the cellular level. To restore thyroid hormone signaling in patients with hypothyroidism or in patients with the syndrome of thyroid hormone resistance, it is necessary to quantify the action of thyroid hormones in a tissue-specific fashion. The development of biomarkers that are tissue-specific and respond to thyroid hormone is a significant first step towards understanding and possibly modifying thyroid hormone signaling in health and disease states. Keywords
