Abstract:Most Christians inIndonesia, when asked about the term "school" or "Sunday school", they always think that those terms are addressed to children's education. Even the term "Adult Sunday School", which is a very familiar sound in the ears of Christians inAmerica, is not heard of among the churches inIndonesia. Why? According to the Christians inIndonesia, Sunday School is always intended for children. It is also carried in general education. That is why the term education is always directed to the education of the children or young persons rather than to adult education. It is time that theological schools inIndonesiaunderstand the importance of andragogy for adult Christian education. InIndonesia, adults do not like the idea of Sunday school or school because they think Sunday school or school is for children and it is beneath their dignity. However, utilizing the andragogical methods described in this paper, adult can learn in a dignified manner. Instead of being lectured what to know as children would be, adults should realize that each one is an integral part of the learning process. Through respectful participation, each adult can learn through discovery as well as contribute insight to others.

Abstract:Indonesia sedang menjalani suatu gerakan nasional “pembangunan karakter” untuk mengatasi berbagai masalah yang menghambat kesejahteraan masyarakatnya. Indonesia is undergoing a national movement of character building to overcome various problems which hinder the welfare of its society. Every component of the nation and society is expected to give its contribution. Christian Education as one of the strategic tasks or missions of the churches is able to give its significant contribution when its educational programs endeavor to pay more attention to character dimension in its curriculum design for every age category and in all educational contexts. I also argue that character education is closely related to Christian Education even an integral part of it, as Christian character is an integral part of Christian faith. For that purpose I try to clarify some essential concepts such as principles, values, virtues, meaning of life, and Christian character as found in the Bible in order to build on the above argument. Finally, the specific content from the Christian characteristics are found in Biblical examples.

This writing aims to describe and analyze models of peace education for children in the context of the church. This writing is motivated by the emergent acts of violence in various relationships both in the domestic and public sphere in Indonesia, which is causing violence to become culture. This writing proves that peace education is an effective long-term effort, which can be a counter-culture for the violence culture. Peace education can be done more optimally if it is planted early on in the lives of children and in the context of the church, because together with the church, children are also held responsible in taking the mission of peace for the spreading of the kingdom of God. The author also found that peace education needs to be done in three stages: the awareness stage through contemplative model and problem-posing model; the stage of affection through the integration model (with ecclesiastical calendar) and role playing model; then the implementation stage through the action-reflection model. Further research linking the application of these models in the context of local churches in Indonesia is strongly recommended.

This study demonstrates the existence of cultural values and the concept of the worldview of the “relatively close” Baliem society, which is the belief in Walhowak or Nyopase Kain or Elalin Walhasikhe, the concept of cargo cults in the hope of the ideal situation of the future in the myths of Nabelan-Kabelan, Nawulal-Hawulal, Nabudlal-Habudlal, Nabutal-Habutal or Nanggonok-Kanggonok, as well as the hope of the future ideal person in the myth of Naruekul, as well as the attitude of loyalty to Ap Kain as the “head of the tribe” akhuni Palim meke, so as to be "reunited" with the values of the gospel through functional replacement. Thus it is possible to determine an approach concept of contextual evangelism for them.

This paper aims to describe the importance of learning in relation to the discipling duties of the church and interpret it as an urgent task. Using a descriptive-analytic method, the author explains concepts learned through a Bible study approach and includes discussion on psychology as a supplement. The results of this study in gathering information are that 1) Christian Education is unlike secular education that is inclined toward humanistic and naturalistic thinking. 2) Christian Education is concentrated on the task of understanding and appreciating along with communicating the revelation of God (God's revelation) in the Bible and in Jesus Christ. 3) From studying the Bible it can be argued that learning is part of human nature and the basic demands of God to know Him as God the Creator and Redeemer of mankind. 4) In order to guide the church in developing spiritually dynamic lives, the presence of churches who are willing to learn is very much needed. The congregation needs to be made aware that to maintain levels of spirituality that will remain fresh and new, believers will continuously need learning that is honest, wholesome and true.
