Abstract:City center plaza of Malang (Alun-alun Merdeka) is a commercial area and public open space that attracts and encourages the movement of the community including the pedestrian in Malang city. A high pedestrian movement should be balanced with the availability of adequate facilities and infrastructure, particularly the pedestrian ways that can provide comfort, safety and sociability for pedestrians or called as the walkable pedestrian ways. The main purpose of the research is providing an input for pedestrian ways planning based on the concept of walkability, particularly for a public square in Malang. This research used guidelines from Permen PU number 03/PRT/M/2014 to identify the level of service of pedestrian-ways and the standard of the US Department Health and Human Service to find out the index of walkability, and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) to know the priority improvements of pedestrian-ways. The results showed that Merdeka Selatan street and Merdeka Timur street has the worst level of service is B on the weekday while on the weekend, Merdeka Timur street has the worst level of service is E. Pedestrian-ways on Merdeka street has the index of walkability is quite walkable with the score of 40-69. The planning of restructuring pedestrian ways on the City center plaza of Malang City (Alun-alun Merdeka) has different priority for each corridor, in general the priority of restructuring is adding lighting trash bin, as well as the disability paths.

Abstract:The development of the city is influenced by the growth on the physical, economic, and social activities in the city. In the case of Semarang Regency, this development is included in the category fairly fast, particularly after the opening of toll road Semarang-Bawen. By utilizing remote sensing technology and satellite imagery, the pattern of these developments can be mapped and analyzed. The purpose of this study was to identify the pattern of development of space in Semarang Regency by using multitemporal Landsat images. The application of these images can be a mean of monitoring and controlling mechanism of the urban growth in the fast growing city in Central Java, such as in Semarang Regency. Hence, the focus of this analysis is on data of built up area. During the period of 43 years (1972 - 2015) land use change that occurred in the district of Semarang had increased for about 13,000 Ha or an average of 300 ha/year. The biggest changes are located in the Tengaran, Susukan and Bergas sub district that grow more than 20 ha / year.

Abstract:The role of Jakarta is the center of commerce and national government has implication on higher rates of in-migration that leads to increasing price of land and housing due to high demand. For people who can not afford a decent place to live forced to live in illegal settlements and slums, such as illustrated in the edge of Pluit reservoir. Therefore, the government implemented a program of normalization reservoir to reduce the risk of flooding in Jakarta. Here, the community of this neighbourhood were relocated to the flats (vertical housing) that had been prepared, one of which is located in the Muara Baru. This research contributes on the decision making related to the improvement of urban quality of life by considering a more comprehensive approach in assessing the impact of community relocation. The focus of this assessment is to see change in the quality of life of this community, including their environmental, economic, and social condition. The method used is mixed with a questionnaire to calculate the scores and interviews to clarify the results of the questionnaire and explore the maintenence applied in this area. In addition, a factor analysis was also conducted to determine the factors that influence the changes in quality of life. This research found that the relocation of residents from the edge Pluit reservoir for Muara Baru Rusunawa can improve the quality of life that previously in moderate to good levels.

Abstract:As a tourist city, Yogyakarta has several areas that can become an attraction for international tourists, such as the Sosrowijayan. This area is located in a strategic location with a wide range of accommodation for international tourists. The attractiveness of this area particularly for the international tourists is based on its unique characteristics that have not explored in the previous research. Hence, this research aims to determine the level of attraction and the factors that influence the attractiveness of this area based on the perception of international tourists. This research applied quantitative research methods with questioner in the data collection to examine the tourist perception on the variables of destination attractiveness. This research found that these main factors are comfortability, relaxation, accommodation services, and accessibility.

Abstract:An area, in this case a road corridor is expected to have its own distinctive character that has the image. One of the region that still famous with its distinctive character is the Chinatown area. However, the current physical development changes in Chinatown area, particularly on its building function may change the façade of the buildings. Hence, this article aims to explore the charateristic of façade in chinatown area with the case of Chinatown areas in Indonesia (Semarang city), Malaysia and Singapore. The exploration of these areas not previously been examined and contributes on the development of historic Chinatown area, particularly in Semarang. This study used a qualitative method with dependent indicator is a visual character, while the independent indicator is component of façade. This research found that the areas that still have strong visual character and still preserve the architectural character of the Chinese is Singapore Chinatown area, followed by Malaysia, and Semarang.

Abstract:Benteng Kuto Besak (BKB) that is located in the middle of Palembang is a tourism destination with the main attraction of heritage buildings. Given that, the local government is expecting this area as the main destination in Palembang, it is expected that this destination can provide services that can satisfy visitors. Hence, this research aims to assess the service quality based on visitor perceptionThis research used quantitative descriptive as the method in collecting and analysing data. The results show that the BKB as a whole has satisfied the visitors need, but there are still some services that need to be improved, such as the information and promotion.

Abstract:As a part of Greater DKI Jakarta or known as Jabodetabek, Cibinong Raya offers alternatives for residence location. The statistic of population in Cibinong noted that its population has grown by 16.37% (BPS Bogor Regency, 2016) that has implication on the increase of residential dwelling demand. However, the amount of non-built area in the city is limited. So, land use optimazition strategy is significant to reach the optimum land-use value. The result of this study is expected to give different perpective of property development applied by the property developers in Indonesia. Hence, this research applied variables derived from the literature reviews and asked the property experts to analyse the variables. Using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), it was revealed that there were four suitable alternative location named as Location A, Location B, Location C and Location D. Based on the experts perception through AHP method, the study showed that the highest optimum value was Location D (0.336) and followed by Location A (0.309), Location C (0.218) and Location B (0.139).

Abstract:[The influence of Housing Conditions Influence on Residents' Satisfaction at the Grand Tembalang Regency]. Providing residents’ satisfaction on housing conditions is a goal carried by all stakeholders, including government, developers, and the residents of the housing itself. In order to achieve the goals, it needs a research to understand the residents’ needs and wants as the means to evaluate the present condition and to plan the better housing in the future. Hence, this research aims to examine the influence of housing condition towards residents’ satisfaction in the Grand Tembalang Regency. A questionnare based survey and interview were used in data collection followed by descriptive analysis, correlation analysisi, and ordinal regression analysis to determine the result. The results showed that housing conditions influence 70% of residents’ satisfaction. In detail, the services of waste management and hygienic conditions are playing the most significant role to influence the residents’ satisfaction.

Abstract:In Semarang, there are areas of slums that are located in coastal areas and densely populated areas, such as the Village Kemijen in the East Semarang Subdistrict. Based on data of 2014, the slum area in Kemijen Village reached 15.85 Ha. One of the slum problems in this area is inadequate water supply. This study aims to assess the service of clean water in Kelurahan Kemijen. In terms of accommodating the current trend of urban development, that is, community-based development, this study includes community and local organization participation on the clean water provision. The study used quantitative with descriptive analysis method and weighting analysis. This research found that in overall, the condition of clean water facilities and infrastructure and the condition of clean water service are the key elements of clean water provision in this area. Based on the ranking of assessment of clean water service in Kemijen Village, it is known that RW I, II, IV and V are in the lowest rank; then the RW III, VI, VII and IX are in the medium rank, and the RW VIII, X, and XI are included as the area with the best clean water service.
