Abstract:
A new view has been formed on studying foreign languages nowadays: the aim is to make students aware of peculiarities concerning consciousness and culture of another people, that is reflected in its language. The result of studying foreign languages is the acquired intercultural competence based on the formed «world view» of another people, that provides efficient interaction among communicators from various cultures. The article deals with the ways offorming students ’ «world view» of another people in the process of studying a foreign language on the grounds of the concept regarding a person’s cultural development and the theory of activity, that is worked out by representatives of cognitive psychology (L. Vygotsky, О. Leontiev, P. Galperin, І. Zymnia and others). The results of their scientific search have proved that that the language is inseparably connected with the people’s culture; its studying should be realised in a sociocultural context; a sufficient level of mastering a language, which allows using it as a means of communication, confirms the fact ofperceiving the peculiarities of culture reflected in the language. The main method of studying a foreign language is contrasting and comparing realia in a wide context of different cultures. The pedagogical practice justifies the scientists ’ conclusion: studying foreign languages should be built on culturological and communication- and activity approaches, and focused on formation of each student - a future participant of the process of intercultural communication. Students’ consciousness is enriched and their level of communicative culture is improved through perception of realia of another culture, peculiarities of its representatives ’ world outlook.

Abstract:
This paper addresses the challenges of downtoning the speaker’s probability in discourse and revealing its means of expression. A study of objective statements in various discourse registers using the linguistic category of modality has potency of investigating the correlation of hedging and the type of modality which is considered to be an aspect of interpersonal metafunction in language competence (Aumuller, 2014). The term "modality" shares a range of concepts within the fields ofphilosophy, morphology, syntax, semantics, and discourse-analysis. Studies on modality as an interpersonal metafunction in Systemic Functional Linguistics have in the literature, mainly focused on variants of genres and/or discourse namely; conservative, legal, media, literary, academic, political and medical discourse as well as the contemporary English usage (Jespersen, 1924). The present paper continues the author’s] series on hedging in discourse (Mykhaylenko, 2017). The discourse strategy of hedging/downtoning seems to play a paramount role in discourse: the speaker gives the hearer a possibility to objectively interpret his/her intentional meaning, on the other hand, the hearer expects a definite deontic constituent on the part of the speaker. Based on quantitative and qualitative methods, the article argues that the use of modal expressions can be better explained as reflecting the strategies of hedging used by writers for dealing with the social conditions. Within critical discourse analysis, modality is understood as encompassing much more than simply the occurrence of overt modal auxiliaries such as may, might, can, could, will, would, shall, should, must, and ought (Fowler, 1985). Rather, modality concerns the speaker's attitude toward and/or confidence in the proposition being presented.

Abstract:
The article deals with metacognition as the notion in general and its strategies in particular implemented into the ESP course since online education has revealed the importance of some distance learning aspects, metacognitive strategies being part of them. The latest research and publications analysis prove that in spite of the fact that metacognition has been much researched and implemented into teaching and learning in EFL/ESL classroom concerning a foreign language it has not been deeply considered with regard to ESP. The article is aimed at focusing on metacognition and the corresponding strategies in terms of ESP, metacognitive monitoring, self-regulated studies in the framework of online education. The notion of metacognition being defined as ‘thinking about one’s thinking’ and in a wider sense treated as ‘awareness or analysis of one's own learning or thinking processes’ is applied to plan, monitor, and assess one’s understanding and performance. It comprises a person’s awareness of oneself not only in terms of his/her thinking and learning but also of seeing himself/herself as a thinker and learner. Thus, there exists mutual correlation between students ’ success and their metacognitive knowledge: the higher level of metacognition, the better educational outcome and vice versa. Developed metacognitive skills enhance learners’ motivational perspective, increase their ability to clearly understand objectives and tasks set enabling them to study and master new material faster due to efficient approaches used and proper strategies applied which is especially important for online learners as it requires considerable control and time management in a limited time frame for the ESP course and mixed grouping. The above mentioned findings have proved to be worth further focusing on being crucial from the point of view of ESP metacognitive strategies for regulating students ’ educational process, conducting metacognitive monitoring as well as performing self-regulated learning which is ofparticular importance under current circumstances in the framework of online education.

Abstract:
The article presents a comprehensive analysis of advertising texts and their functioning in the process of globalization. Certain aspects of linguistic and stylistic means of advertising texts and peculiarities of their translation are traced. The influence of advertising as a cultural phenomenon is proved. The analysis of the structure and features of advertising texts was carried out based on such research methods as the descriptive method, the method of observation, the method of comparison, the method of analysis and synthesis, the method of induction and deduction, and dictionary definition. Advertising has been found to have a significant impact on a globalized society, and virtually every culture is involved in this process. It plays a significant socio-cultural role in shaping the stereotypes that define the national mentality. Values are introduced through advertising. Translation of advertising texts is a very creative and complicated process that requires considering a set of factors. First of all, you need to understand that the main task of advertising texts is to sell goods, so they must be quite convincing and promote the emergence of vivid images in the minds of potential consumers. As a result of the analysis of advertising texts, we concluded that advertising is a vivid example of persuasive writing that can influence a globalized society. That is why the experience of understanding the globalization of advertising communications conveys spiritual experience in the form of models of consumer behavior and behavior in general and forms vital values. The study of advertising messages is a multifaceted, complicated process that requires consideration of the dynamics of advertising texts. Therefore, there is a need to analyze the linguistic and stylistic features of advertising texts. Translation of advertising differs from all others in form, language, and pronounced communicative direction. In translating advertising, the translator must solve not only linguistic problems but also sociolinguistic adaptation, because the perception of the world's picture in each culture is different.

Abstract:
The article deals with complex forms resulting from the connection of a participle 1 or 2 with a noun. The aim of the corpus-based study is to show which semantic types of connection are present, i.e. which semantic roles the nouns are represented in and how the pattern behaves in language use. Particular attention is paid to the thematic domains in which such formations are common and tend to become terms.

Abstract:
The article attempts to consider the semantics and connotative shades of the linguistic-aesthetic sign-symbol well in the poetic language of Vasyl Holoborodko. The peculiarities of the use of synonymous equivalents for the designation of hydro objects for water extraction and consumption, which are used by the artist as figurative-poetic signs-symbols, are clarified. The semantic and emotional-expressive load in the texts of the word-image is characterized. The specificity of the artist's figurative rethinking of the ethnonym is substantiated. In the process of analysis it was established that the well is a sign-symbol inherent in all civilizational cultures; the name of the well is poetic, characteristic both for everyday use and forfolklore. In V. Holoborodko's poetic discourse we mostly fix the word-image of a well in unity with the concepts of water, bucket and actions to drink water, go for water, dig a well, etc. Krynytsia - in the poetic world reproduction of V. Holoborodko - a symbol of earthly life, a symbol of eternal existence, a sign of cosmic existence. At the same time - it is a source of truth, the key to knowledge of the universe, its laws, the reality of ethno-being. The token well as a word-image in V. Holoborodko's poetry is attested with the seeds "memory", "genealogy", "succession of generations", "earthly life focused on high spiritual principles". The well is also a "measure of the honesty of the individual." The word-image well is also based on the seeds "quenching thirst", "source of inspiration", "life". The image-symbol is characterized by a positive emotional and expressive load. We record a significant expansion of the occasional semantics of the word-image in the idiolect of the artist of the sixties, which occurs due to the analogy: the depth of the well - the depth of thought, soul; purity of the well - purity of thought, soul; well - terrestrial life, reaching the cosmic heights (water cycle).

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problem of modern linguistics - gender relations. The problems of language and gender have become relevant in modern linguistics. Linguists consider gender as a phenomenon of culture and language; study the refraction of this category in language. Scientists consider gender to be a sociocultural category; their works touch upon the issues of oral and written communication. They researched general patterns of gender development, gender relations in linguistics, and concepts in the light of gender stereotypes. But the problem of studying gender relations in sports media in a comparative aspect was not touched upon in the works of linguists. Significant contributions to the construction of gender were made by the mass media. The media shape gender attitudes for both men and women and assign them specific gender roles. Sports text is a multilevel communicative constructor. It reflects the communicative intentions of sports actors - athletes, coaches, competition judges, sports administrators, fans, and sports commentators. The phraseological and lexical fund of the German and Russian languages was used to analyze the research data. After analyzing the material we have chosen, that most of the articles are devoted to men's sports - 76.5% and only 23.5% - to women's. We determined that the morphological way of forming words (suffix and addition) prevails in sports publications. So, we have noted that for designation a person's sex in borrowed words, native speakers of the Russian language resort to the syntactic method, that is, the formulation of the predicate in the desired form. In German language, a predicate cannot be an indicator of gender. We can reveal belonging to one or another gender only through introductory nominations (weiblich, männlich, Frauen-, Männer-) or the names of athletes.Over time, the stereotypes that were created in society are changing, because our life does not stand still, and women are increasingly becoming on a par with men.

Abstract:
Verb is the most important part of speech because it is the syntactic and communicative center of the sentence. So the verb form errors is an important problem of culture of language. The mediaproducts (215 texts of different information genres) of first year students from the Institute of Journalism of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv was analyzed. A classification of tipical errors of verbs forms was suggested. Gaps in the school education (on the material of schools textbooks was analyzed) are the main cause of the following verb errors: verb-conjunction "to be" in the Present, verb nouns, passive verbs, passive participle, active participle, impersonal verbs, redundant constructs, lexical errors. The topics to supplement the school program of language was suggested. It is recommended to omit the verb-conjunction in the present tense; prefer verb forms, not nouns; use active constructions, not passive ones; not to use active present participles; the instrumental case of nouns should be used in the instrumental, not in the subjective sense; use adjectives as a predicate to describe the subject; not to use stationery and tautological constructions; distinguish the meaning of Ukrainian and Russian tokens.

Abstract:
Free operation of verbs, which provide the processes of cognition of the medical student, is based on knowledge of their semantics, grammatical design and prosodic features. An important part of learning a new language is always its orthoepic characteristics. Assimilation of accentual norms is complicated by the mobile and free nature of accent in East Slavic languages. Emphasis mobility can be the only marker of grammatical meaning presentation in cases of form homography. The basis of success in developing the skills of using verb forms of the form can be linguistic-methodical forecasting and selection of language tools taking into account the profile of learning. The aim of the article was to describe the features of the formative role of emphasis in the presentation of the grammatical category of the verb, which should be considered in the process of teaching foreign medical students to prevent communicative failures in medicine and home. The article demonstrates how to achieve communicative competence in the audience offuture doctors, practicing the skills of accentuation of species oppositions in the study of actions with objects in different physical states. Particular attention is paid to work with polysemantic verbs such as vysypat - vysypat. Adherence to the principle of text-centricity in learning helps to combine tasks of semantic, grammatical and accentological order, which contributes to the expansion of student knowledge in all three aspects. A number of homograph verbs have been proposed for work in a foreign audience, in which the emphasis has become a grammatical way of conveying the species meaning not only in the infinitive, but also in the whole paradigm. A group of verbs is indicated in which only certain grammatical forms are distinguished by means of stress, and not all forms of the paradigm of different types of verbs. The auxiliary role of accentuation in speciation is considered, which complements affixation as the main way of perfection. Methodological developments are most expediently directed at the synthesis of grammatical, semantic, word-formation and accentuation aspects in the selection of specific text material on the topics of classes.
