Abstract:
Synthesis of the 4-chlorobenzoylthiourea compound was carried out by acylating thiourea with 4-chlorobenzoyl chloride. The 4-chlorobenzoylthiourea compound will increase the lipophilic and the electronic properties other than the lead compounds of benzoylthiourea in order to, by expectation, raise the central nervous system depressant as well. The lipophilic would affect the ability of the compounds in penetrating biological membranes, which is highly dependent on the solubility of the drug within lipid/water. Log P is the most common method used in determining the parameter value. This experiment was to mix two dissolvents (octanol and water) which are immissible. The both levels of the compounds were carefully observed by a spectrophotometer UV-Vis. From the test, the result of log P value of the 4-chlorobenzoylthiourea compound was 2.32, while the theoretical log P value of the compounds, by using the π Hansch-Fujita method is 1.62 and the f Rekker-Mannhold method is 2.225. Consequently, the result of the test shows that there is a significant difference between the progress experiment and both theoretical log P methods. Moreover, in the test of the central nervous system depressant through the potentiation test to thiopental using mice indicates that the 4-chlorobenzoylthiourea compound have potentiation effects to thiopental compared to the lead compounds of benzoylthiourea.

Abstract:
The development of science in every field and the finding of new medicines are growing very fast, as well as the use of herbal medicines. One of the many herbal plants is Salam (Eugenia polyanta (Wight), Walp). Judging by the great prospectiveness of the Salam leaves, the government through the Indonesian FDA has included the Salam plant as one of the nine excellent plant, so that it can be developed as a Phytopharmaceutical. The phytopharmaceutical has to follow certain prerequisites, one of them is it has to be in the form of standardized extract or powder. In order to produce extract, the raw material is preferred in a dry state, because the water content can be reduced, so that it can minimized the enzymatic and hydrolytic reaction. In this study, the effect of pre drying by Détente Instantanée Contrôlée (DIC/Instantaneous Controlled Pressure-Drop) method is carried out, as it will opened up the pores of the plant cells, so that the vaporization will be accelerated and the the thermal degradation can be minimized. Eleven parameters have been studied. It can be concluded that based on the drying times and the Total Phenol Content, the parameter 1,9 bar and 10,86 second is the optimum parameter of the DIC.

Abstract:
As a high populated country, one of Indonesia major problem is unemployment. The Indonesian government has been working on several programs to reduce the unemployment level. In the province level, Disnakertrans Jatim has several initiatives, including: developing Employment Service Center as well as Online Job Service Center. The number of Internet users is increasing significantly in the last several years, including in Indonesia. The use of Information Technology is expected to assist the job seekers to find jobs, and allows companies to find workers effectively. Abstract:
The effort of cloning the Lister strain of Salmonella typhi (NCTC 786, BCC 712) carB gene using pET-16b expression vector and E. coli JM109 as host cell has been done. The carB gene and the pET-16b expression vector were both prepared from their recombinant plasmid digested using BamHI and NdeI as restriction enzymes. The pG-carB-11-ST recombinant plasmid was isolated from Escherichia coli XL10(pG-carB-11-ST) and the pET-carA-ST recombinant plasmid was from Escherichia coli DH5α(pET-carA-ST). After being ligated (in a ratio of vector:gene of 1:3, 1:5 and 1:6) in the presence of T4 Bacteriofage DNA Ligase, the ligation mixture was used to transform Escherichia coli JM109 cells and plated out onto Luria Bertani medium containing ampicillin. An amount of 369 produced colonies were screened for the presence of the appropriate recombinant plasmid using combination of plasmid miniprep and agarose gel electrophoresis. None of the recombinant plasmids being suspected to carry the Salmonella typhi carB gene. It is suggested to repeat cloning process using E. coli JM109 or using E. coli XL10 as host cell which were known to have large cloning efficiency and can be used for large plasmids up to 25 kb.

Abstract:
Drying is one of the most significant method in food preservation. This study was conducted to investigate mathematical models of thin layer drying of apple slices. The kinetic of thin layer drying of apple slices was experimentally investigated in a hot air convective dryer. Crank solution for difusion in slab model and Lewis model for drying in thin layer were used to predict the drying profile. Drying characteristic of apple slices were determined using ambient air at 50 oC and 0,4167 m/s linier velocity. The result showed that Lewis model was more convenient for short-period drying, whereas the Crank solution model was more appropiate for long- periode drying.

Abstract:
Many mass-transfer applications have used chitosan membrane in separation processes. This research applied crosslinked chitosan membrane to sterillize bacterial growth media. Chitosan membranes having 79 % DD were produced by casting and drying chitosan solution. The images of the membrane were characterized by SEM and other characterizations such as permeability, permselectivity and tensile strength were investigated. The flux increased with longer submersion period but the rejection decreased. Otherwise, the flux decreased and rejection increased in line with an increase in curing temperature. Tensile strength increased with the increase of submersion period and curing temperature. The optimum conditions of crosslinking process are 2 hours of submersion periods and curing temperature at 90 oC. It gives flux 5.8930 L/jam.m2, rejection 97.47 % and tensile strength 49640 kN/m2

Abstract:
Heating temperature (Quenching temperature), holding time and cooling rate (cooling rate) is an important process parameter in the hardening processes, to obtain maximum hardness number of materials. To determine the optimum parameters influenced by the type of material, process conditions and quenching media. Different process conditions, then the process parameters should also be defined with different process parameters. Thus experiments on the process of hardening steel materials Mod SK3 is done to get the setting parameters of the optimum quenching temperature and holding time. Optimization of process parameters using Response Surface methode. The experimental results: if the cooling media (cooling fluid) used "engine oil ", the optimal parameter is "quencing temperature" = 828.9 oC, holding time = 40.12198 minutes (40 minutes 8 seconds). If the cooling media used Issodur 220, the optimal process parameters are "quencing temperature" = 832.88 oC, holding time = 39 818 minutes (39 minutes 50 seconds). Kekersaan maximum material that can be achieved is 59.7 HRC (quenching media: "engine oil") and 62.2 HRC (quenching media: "Ussodur 220").

Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to find out how the fluctuation of outpatients’ blood-glucose concentrations of type 2 diabetic patients who receive combination therapy of the oral antihiperglicemic drugs (gliclazide-metformin) in DR. Sardjito Hospital. The research was conducted using an analysis-descriptive design employing a number of medical-records of patients with diabetes mellitus to collect the glucose content data. Data derived from the medical records is the data of each patient’s blood-glucose content during six months, beginning from March to August 2002. The results give that profile of the glucose concentrations in fasting condition and 2 hours postprandial condition who recieve combination therapy of the oral antidiabetic (gliclazide-metformin) can reach out for normal concentration.

Abstract:
Garut/larut (Maranta arundinacea L.) termasuk familia Marantaceae yang membentuk rimpang (rhizoma) dan diolah menjadi amilum Marantae di mana mempunyai banyak kegunaan mulai untuk bahan makanan sampai sebagai bahan industri dan ramuan obat-obatan. Kondisi lingkungan tumbuh dan daerah perakaran sangat berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman garut. Oleh karena itu diteliti pengaruh kondisi tanah sawah dan tegal terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman garut saat berumur 10 bulan serta produksi rimpang dan amilumnya saat panen 12 bulan. Pertumbuhan vegetatif tanaman garut di sawah lebih baik dari pada di tegal, dan sejalan dengan produksi rimpang serta rendemen amilum lebih besar di sawah dibandingkan di tegal. Kondisi tanah daerah perakaran baik tanah sawah maupun tegal tidak mempengaruhi kadar amilum maupun kadar lembab amilum.
