Abstract:
THE EGGSHELLS’ PHYSICAL CONDITION OF BROWN CHICKEN EGGS AT PINASUNGKULAN MARKET MANADO. A study was conducted to examine the eggshells’ physical condition of fresh-brown chicken eggs (table eggs) at the Pinasungkulan market, in Manado city. The variables taken were egg weight in three general size categories (small, medium and large) and eggshells condition (cleanliness, smoothness/ texture and color). The averages egg weight of the fresh-brown chicken eggs in three size categories made by egg sellers were 51.57 grams for small size eggs, 62.03 grams for medium size eggs and 70.68 grams for large size eggs, respectively. The eggshells’ condition values of fresh-brown eggs were from slightly clean to clean (3.58 - 3.82) on cleanliness; from slightly smooth to smooth (3.64 - 3.85) on texture; and from slightly faded to brown (2.79 - 3.85) on color. T-test paired was showed that the eggshells’ physical condition of small size eggs was better than that of medium size and large size eggs seen from their eggshells’ cleanliness, smoothness/ texture and their color, It found also that the egg seller in Pinasungkulan Market, Manado had not been carefully made and well standardized the egg size or egg weight categories. Keywords: brown eggs, eggshell, cleanliness, smoothness/texture, color.

Abstract:
ANALYSIS OF FEED CONCENTRATE FACTOR ON LAYING HEN AMINO ACIDS CONSUMPTION. Laying hens require a number of elements in which nutrients such as protein containing the amino acids are balanced in quality. Recently, there are various types of commercial ration (concentrate) for laying hens produced by the company. Quality of protein is expressed either high or low composition of amino acids depending on the essential amino acids contained in these feeds. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different types of commercial concentrates on the consumption of amino acids in laying chicken. The research was conducted on laying chicken farms located in Matali Village, district of East Kotamobagu, Kotamobagu Municipality. Laying hens of Silver Strains as many as 240 heads at 78-week-old were used in this study. This study applied a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of three treatments and eight replications at each treatment. The treatments were using commercial concentrations of the amino acids for commercial Concentrate A (RA), commercial concentrate B (RB) and commercial concentrate C (RC). The laboratory analysis showed that the majority amounts of essential amino acids (Arginine, Lysine, histidine, leucine, isoleucine, valine, threonine and phenylalanine) of 80% was higher in RC than RB and RA, indicating that the composition of both quality and quantity of amino acids in commercial concentrates C (RC) is sufficient and more balanced than commercial concentrates A (RA) and commercial concentrate B (RB). These complete amino acids in RC increased more feed consumption of laying hens compared with those in RA and RB.Key words: Laying hens, amino acids, commercial concentrate

Abstract:
THE EFFECT OF FEED RESTRICTION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF BROILERWITH DIFFERENT STRAINS. This study aims to measure the growth performance of broilers with different strains through a feed restriction pattern at the beginning of growth (starter). This study used 72 day-old broilers consisting of 36 Cobb strains and 36 Lohman strains selected from each of them. -each 100 heads to get almost the same body weight obtained successively from PT. Charoen Phokphand and PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 2x4 factorial pattern with 3 replications. The A factor is the difference in strains (A1 = Lohman, A2 = Cobb), while the B factor is the time of feed restriction (B0 = no feed restriction, B1 = feed restriction starts on day 8, B2 = Feed restriction starts on day 11, B3 = Feed restriction begins On day 14. There were 8 treatment combinations. Feed restriction was carried out as much as 20 percent. The measured variables were feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion. The results of the analysis of variance showed that there was a significant interaction (P 0.05) .Tukey's test results showed that the feed consumption in the combination of Lohman strain treatment with limitation time of 11 days (98.95) is not significantly different (P> 0.05) with the combination of A1B0 (97.52), A2B3 (91.34), but A2B0 (95.36) is significantly different (P <0.05) is higher with all combinations treatment. The results of the analysis of variance showed that there was a significant interaction (P 0.05) with A1B1 (51, 70), thus with treatment A2B0 (48.13), treatment A1B0 (49.93) with A2B1 (49.13), A2B3 (49.12), A2B0 (48.13) and A2B2 (47.21) . Lohman strain broiler and 20% restriction with restriction time starting on the eleventh day gave the best performance response. Keywords: Strain, feed restriction, time limitation
