Abstract:
Цель работы – установить особенности проявления социально-экономической циклической закономерности «Цикл президентских выборов» на фондовом рынке США в современных условиях и разработпть рекомендации по практическому применению этой закономерности при осуществлении инвестиционной деятельности. Дизайн/Метод/План исследования. Статистическая обработка данных о значениях промышленного индекса Доу-Джонса за период с 1887 по 2020 гг. Результаты исследования. Исследование показало, что закономерности по величине среднего прироста индекса Доу-Джонса в разные года цикла Президентских виборов в условиях современной экономики отличаются от закономерностей, существовавших до 1993 года. В настоящее время практический интерес может представлять только год, предшествующий выборам президента США, когда средний прирост индекса в 2-4 раза превышает прирост в другие годы цикла. Известный ранее тезис о том, что при правящей Демократической партии фондовый рынок США растет быстрее, подтверждается и в условиях современной экономики. Тем не менее, с каждым годом разница между приростами рынка при различных партиях сглаживается. В рамках «Цикла президентских выборов» существует стойкая закономерность, заключающаяся в том, что индекс Доу-Джонса вырастает от своего минимального значения в «промежуточный» год до максимального значения следующего, предвыборного года. При этом, в последние десятилетия величина процента прироста имеет тенденцию к уменьшению, и если раньше, с 1914 по 2011 гг. его среднее значение составляло 47-48,6 %, то в период с 1993 по 2020 гг. процент прироста уменьшился до 36,7 %. Практическое значение исследования. Практическое применение результатов исследования даст возможность повысить точность прогнозирования преобладающих тенденций на международных фондовых рынках и, соответственно, повысить эффективность инвестирования. Оригинальность/Ценность/Научная новизна исследования. настоящее исследование расширяет знания об особенностях проявления и использования циклической закономерности «Цикл президентских выборов», предлагает обновленную модель его использования при прогнозировании преобладающей тенденции на фондовом рынке США. Результаты исследования могут быть интересны специалистам, работающим в сфере инвестирования на международных финансовых рынках. Ограничение исследования/Перспективы дальнейших исследований. Результаты исследований, приведенные в настоящей статье, создают основу для проведения аналогичных исследований для европейских и азиатских финансовых рынков, а также выявления и исследования других циклических закономерностей на международных финансовых рынках с целью разработки прикладных механизмов инвестирования, способствующих повышению эффективности инвестирования. Abstract:
The research aims to identify weaknesses and advise the Ukrainian Government's managerial concept in economic stabilization during the crisis. There were applied system's methods and functional analysis and control systems' synthesis. It was established that the country has no institute for monitoring and developing a strategy for macroeconomic regulation during the crisis, the Government's inability to compensate for the lack of conceptual substantiation for its decisions, most of which are not timely brought to the final economic entities that negatively perceive the Government's regulatory decisions, suspending from their implementation and even resorting to resistance. Significant deficiencies in the Government's regulatory activities during the crisis were identified, which demands its improvement based on managing economic entities' behavioral concepts in changing environments. Proposals for the selecting behavioral imperative for Ukraine's economy during the crisis and regulatory decisions were developed, considering changes in the management object's stability. The research's theoretical significance is to substantiate the Government's managerial concept during the crisis, and when the possibility of its direct application determines the practical significance. The research's novelty is the behavioral theory's elements application for Government activities. Prospects for further research are related to the substantiation and development of a government's holistic management model during the crisis. The article is theoretical and empirical.

Abstract:
Purpose – to investigate the problems of implementing a strategic planning system in industrial enterprises. Design/Method/Research approach. A theoretical approach based on the generalization of available research, analysis, and comparison to identify obstacles to the strategic planning implementation in industrial enterprises Findings. It is substantiated that the strategy development and strategic planning system implementation are necessary conditions for a modern industrial enterprise's functioning due to the dynamism and instability of the economic environment. One of the most important factors influencing the economic entity's efficiency is the awareness of the need to implement a strategic planning system because it allows the company to achieve dynamic development and strengthen its market position. It is argued that among the problems that affect the strategic planning implementation in industrial enterprises, external factors of influence, internal factors of the organization, and factors related to the enterprise owner's motives. Theoretical implications. The research's theoretical significance is to change the research focus in strategic planning from external factors to the enterprise owner's motives research. Practical implications. Owners and top managers can use the research to prevent problems with the enterprise's strategic planning implementation. Originality/Value. The paper's originality is because, for the first time, the relationship between the dynamics and problems of strategic planning system implementation in industrial enterprises is considered by the personal motives of the enterprises' owners. Research limitations/Future research. Further research forecasts further analyze the relationship between external and internal factors influencing strategic planning system implementation problems in industrial enterprises. Abstract:
Purpose – to analyze the situation of age discrimination at work and to give some reflections from job ads in the case of Turkey. Design/Method/Approach of the research. This study presents a limited depiction of age discrimination occurring in Turkey by analyzing job ads. Findings. One of the most critical demographic issues for the entire world, especially for the advanced world, is aging. It is essential as it necessitates some critical regulations that have economic and social consequences. During this aging trend, job seekers over a certain age in labor markets face age discrimination. Although many countries, both developed and developing, have some legal regulations against age discrimination, it remains a crucial form of discrimination. Where we can easily see this kind of discrimination is job ads. This study examined more than fifteen hundred job ads posted by İŞKUR, state-affiliated Employment Agency of Turkey, for the cities of Marmara Region of Turkey were examined. Nearly 20% of all job ads is indicating some statement for age limit. Research limitations/Future Research. Although just the age value indicated by employers in the ads itself does not mean an absolute age discrimination rate, 20 % is a vital implication for that kind of discrimination, and also, this figure implies the need for detailed further studies. Abstract:
Purpose – to demonstrate the links between social exclusion and the higher costs of treating customers depending on this social sector, unlike other customers who are neither unemployed nor live in poverty. Design/Method/Approach of the research. In the external study, a survey method was used, supplemented with a method of observation at the study site. The authors of the publication carried out research using the qualitative method, formalized interview with medical staff. This research was done in University Hospital in Wroclaw in 2018. Findings. Any health organization must create good relations inside the organization and mostly from outside. One of them is a patient that the author calls a "customer" as every person spends money on health organization leading to the proper hospital functioning. Decision-makers within the system continuously must make choices and seek alternative ways to measure illness costs. One of the factors that harm the optimization of the health services' scale is the social exclusion phenomenon, which is significantly affecting society. Socially isolated people's problems are deprivation, as a lack of access to the necessary level of high-quality, safe, and effective medical services, and cultural competence to provide such medical services. The ex-post analysis conclusions show that relationships between the analyzed areas and the social exclusion phenomenon have a medium and even large dependency and demonstrate cause-effect relationships. Management of customers with the disfunction of medical personnel social requires using other means of communication and building relationships on facts. The communication model between medical personnel and the customer should be founded on a moderate paternalistic model, which is based on facts and documents. The result will be a reduction in service time, which will affect consultation time, financial savings, and an increase in medical personnel efficiency. Originality/Value. In the research of socially isolated people's health problems, three aspects was distinguished: health problems caused by social isolation, health problems that cause social exclusion, and health conditions that are difficult to treat due to social isolation. Abstract:
Purpose – to identify trends in Ukraine's tourism enterprises' external environment to increase their competitiveness and stability in the relevant industry market. Design/Method/Approach of the research. Theoretical generalization, method of abstraction, expert assessments, PEST-analysis, factor analysis, graphical method. Findings. The research studies the changes in the external environment of tourist enterprises during the pandemic crisis. The critical factors of such enterprises' external environment are revealed based on considering their importance and the influence direction on the competitiveness of tourist business units. The paper covers the most significant negative and positive trends of changes in Ukraine's tourist enterprises' external environment. The authors provided recommendations for strategic planning of tourist business units' competitiveness. Practical implications. The research results allow identifying areas for increasing the competitiveness of national tourism enterprises and effectively adapting to the external environment's transformations during the crisis in the globalized social and economic space. Originality/Value. Based on the expert assessment, the authors proposed an expanded factors list of the external environment of national tourism enterprises, which, in contrast to the existing ones, consider the crisis's negative consequences. PEST-analysis clusters of environmental factors allowed to identify with a significant positive or negative impact on the competitiveness of tourism enterprises. Research limitations/Future research. The research results provide a basis for further study of the external macro- and micro-environment of tourism enterprises at the local, regional, and national levels. And for element-by-element SWOT-analysis of tourism enterprises during the pandemic crisis. Paper type – theoretical.

Abstract:
Purpose – to study website’s work and content of the travel agency on the example of the "Laspi" travel agency, identify its technical properties and offer methods to increase the web-resource leading position in the Yandex and Google search engines by performing SEO-analysis. Design/Method/Research approach. Internet resources SEO-analysis. Findings.The travel product promotion directly depends on the travel market participants' advertising tools' effectiveness, mainly travel agents. It is determined that one of the new technologies that increase the advertising effectiveness, in particular via the travel agencies’ web resources, is SEO-technology. The authors Identified technical shortcomings of its operation, mainly related to search queries statistics, the subject site visits, the semantic core operation, the site improvement, the site increasing citation, and the number of persistent references in the network. It is proved that updating site development, changing its environment, analyzing user behavior, namely the Og Properties micro markup, updating HTML tags, analytical programs placing, iframe objects selection, and other activities, increase the content uniqueness. As a result, search engines scanned the site, and the search results took first place for the positions essential for the web resource. Originality/Value. The leading positions increasing mechanism application, website operation optimization allow search engines to bring it to the TOP of the most popular travel sites. Theoretical implications. To optimize the web resource operation, a mechanism for improving its leading position is proposed that includes three steps: the general website characteristics of marketing, SEO-analysis, recommendations provision. Practical implications. The research is practical in improving the site’s technical operation and increasing its leading position in Yandex and Google search engines. Research limitations/Future research. Further research aims at the site further analysis after making the proposed changes to its operation. Paper type – empirical.

Abstract:
Purpose – to analyze the models of overcoming the crisis of the tourism business in Germany. Design/Method/Approach of the research. The research method is an expert opinion analysis on possible scenarios for the Covid-19/Coronavirus pandemic crisis development, the consequences for German tourism, and possible models of overcoming the crisis. Findings. The paper analyzes the models of overcoming the crisis in Germany's tourism business during the gradual attenuation of the Covid-19/ Coronavirus pandemic and the beginning of the national borders lento opening. That allowed us to formulate an assumption of possible scenarios while crisis overcoming in the tourism business in Germany. Theoretical and practical implications. The analysis of possible scenarios while overcoming the crisis in the tourism business in Germany phenomena in Germany's tourism industry can be very interesting both for practitioners and for theorists studying the problems of tourism development worldwide. Originality/Value. The article investigates the regional differences of the tourism crisis developed during the Covid-19/ Coronavirus pandemic. Based on a logical analysis of the models for overcoming the tourism business crisis in Germany, the paper analyzed factors that can affect changes in consumer habits and include vital economic aspects of the tourism business restoration. This paper expands researchers’ capabilities in the crisis phenomena analysis in the tourism business and assists in the most accurate and reasonable forecasting for the long-term sustainable development and competitive advantages of tourism enterprises. Abstract:
Мета дослідження - визначити відмінності впровадження моделі франчайзингу туристичними операторами на європейському та українському ринках. Дизайн/Метод/План дослідження. Теоретичний підхід, що ґрунтується на узагальненні, системному й порівняльному аналізі. Застосовані контент-аналіз, статистичний, графічний і табличний методи. Результати дослідження. Охарактеризовано моделі ділового франчайзингу найбільших багатопрофільних туристичних операторів масового туризму в Україні. Визначено загальні умови здійснення туристичної діяльності на принципах ділового франчайзингу для туристичних агенцій. З’ясовано відмінності моделей ділового франчайзингу на європейському й українському ринках. Франчайзинг визначено механізмом мультиплікації бізнесу й кооперації можливостей, спрямованих на активне просування туристичного продукту на цільовий на ринок. Практичне значення дослідження. Практичне значення отриманих результатів дослідження полягає у можливому їх застосуванні туристичними агенціями при прийнятті рішення про приєднання до франчайзингової мережі й туроператорами при вирішенні питань диверсифікації прогнозованих ризиків бізнесу. Оригінальність / цінність / наукова новизна дослідження. Новизною проведеного дослідження є уточнення умов провадження туристичної діяльності на засадах франчайзингу в країнах Європи й, зокрема, в Україні, виділення відмінних рис моделі європейського ділового франчайзингу, які полягають у чітко визначеній вертикально інтегрованій структурі управління, сильному національному маркетинговому менеджменті, корпоративній підтримці ведення бізнесу, довгостроковості франчайзингових угод, результативній системі франчайзі. Abstract:
Purpose – to assess the tourism industry development and its impact on Ukraine’s economy, to identify a set of problems hindering the significant development of the tourism industry, and to justify ways to increase competitiveness in the world market. Design/Method/Approach of the research. System approach, synthesis, analysis and comparison to assess the tourism development dynamics in Ukraine, correlation and regression analysis to determine the impact level of increasing the number of hotels and tourist-recreational enterprises on GDP growth in Ukraine, logical generalization to identify a set of problems holding back the significant development of local tourism and ways justification of increasing its competitiveness on the world market. Findings. This article presents the results of assessing the tourism dynamics, particularly the tourist flows, the number of resorts, the number of tourists served by tour operators and travel agents. The authors substantiated the ways of increasing the local tourism sector's competitiveness. Practical implications. The work results can make the basis for the development of fundamental and scientific-applied provisions contributing to the significant system formation of increasing the competitiveness of Ukraine's tourism industry by state and local authorities, establishing cooperation among market participants and forming optimal logistics flows, developing business models to optimize the flows of health and recreational facilities. Originality/Value. The research value is that its applied scientific provisions can be implemented in the strategy of economic development of local tourism in analytical and mathematical justifications of the relationship between economic growth and tourism development, which ultimately increases Ukraine regions’ competitiveness for sustainable development of the country’s economy. Research limitations/Future research. Abstract:
Purpose – tо study sought to delve into social capital and commercial banks' internationalization in Kenya drawing on the internationalization concept. Design/Method/Approach. The research adopted a positivist philosophical approach and used a descriptive cross-sectional research design targeting top and middle-level managers in Kenya's commercial banks. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 22.0 for both descriptive and inferential statistics. Structural Equation Modelling was used to establish the influence of social capital on commercial banks' internationalization in Kenya. Findings. The findings established a significant and positive relationship between the components of social capital: inter-cultural empathy, inter- personal impact and diplomacy, and commercial banks' internationalization. Practical implications. The results have significant consequences: Firstly, social capital has a positive and statistically significant relationship with commercial banks' internationalization. Secondly, all dimensions of social capital affect the acquisition of foreign market knowledge and financial resources. Thirdly, the use of individuals' social capital often changes during internationalization. Originality/Value. The study's novelty demonstrates the interaction of commercial banks' managers in Kenya on the application of social capital as an internationalization orientation process. Research Limitations/Future Research. The research contributes to the advancement of location theory. It opens avenues for future research to establish what extent social capital is beneficial to banks that have ventured into international markets. Paper type – empirical.

Abstract:
Purpose – to assess the integration and management of the formation and implementation of the competitive advantages of the Visegrad Four countries in the European market of information, computer, telecommunication (ICT) services based on their analysis in the individual market segments. Design/Method/Research approach - this study aims to determine the presence and nature of the competitive advantages of countries in the European ICT services market based on the calculation of export specialization indicators, to establish factors for their growth and effective implementation based on the results of structural, regressive, comparative analysis and synthesis. Findings. It has been suggested that the introduction of the European rules for market organization stimulated the building-up in the Visegrad Four countries of their competitive advantages in the European ICT services market through innovative investment resources, effective management of private, public sector and international investors and personnel. Practical implications. The accession of Eastern European countries to the European digital market and digital space requires a generalization of the experience of the Visegrad four countries and the identification of factors, directions and priorities of the national policy for the development of the ICT sector. Originality/Value. Scientific novelty of the study - based on the calculation of the comparative advantage index, different integration and effectiveness of managing the competitive advantages of the Visegrad Four countries, primarily the sphere of IC services to the European market (relatively high - in the Czech Republic due to state financing, moderate – in Poland due to financial support from the state, in Slovakia due to private investment in R&D, low – in Hungary), this situation requires a balanced innovation and investment strategy of the countries in the future, the training of a sufficient number of qualified IT specialists, stimulation of private investment in R&D and business cooperation with the sphere of knowledge by means of tax and administrative incentives, facilitating the transition of small and medium-sized businesses on the principles of economics 4.0. Abstract:
Purpose – to explore a crowdsourcing data-driven approach to construct crowdknowledge databases for innovation through supporting creative idea generation. In the approach, social media will be used as platforms to crowdsource knowledge for producing the databases. Findings. Creativity is an essential element of innovation, but producing creative ideas is often challenging in design. Many computational tools have become available recently to support designers in producing creative ideas that are new to individuals. As a standard feature, most of the tools rely on the databases employed, such as ConceptNet and the US Patent Database. This study highlighted that the limitations of these databases have constrained the capabilities of the tools and, thereby, new computational databases supporting the generation of new ideas to a crowd or even history are needed. Crowdsourcing outsources tasks conventionally performed in-house to a crowd and uses external knowledge to solve problems and democratize innovation. Social media is often employed in crowdsourcing for a crowd to create and share knowledge. Originality/value/scientific novelty of the research. This paper proposes a novel approach employing social media to crowdsource knowledge from a crowd for constructing crowd knowledge databases. Practical importance of the research. The crowd knowledge database is expected to be used by the current computational tools to support designers producing highly creative ideas that are new to the crowd, in new product design, and ultimately to innovation. Abstract:
Purpose – to identify the relationship between the transformational leadership approach and team performance, to analyze the existing literature that expresses the role of transformational leadership on team performance and to create a guideline for the leaders to increase their performance.Design/Method/Approach. To achieve the purpose o.f the study 86 articles and books were analyzed in terms of transformational leadership, team performance, and the relationship between these two concepts.Findings. Leadership is one of the essential words in today’s organizational direction. Despite that, transformational leadership has excellent attention on leadership theory. A few numbers of researches are done on analyzing the relationship between transformational leadership and team performance. The findings show that transformational leadership remains the most crucial leadership style in improving team performance.Originality / Value. The originality of the study is that no one researcher before has analyzed the relationship between transformational leadership and team performance, like this study, which includes analyzing the existing literature over 50 years of research made on this topic by numerous researchers.Theoretical implications. This study's theoretical significance increases opinion and change of judgment for performance appraisal on the working life quality.Practical implications. The practical benefit of this study is that it provides a guideline for managers use the leadership style correctly to increase the performance of a team, and as a result their organization.Research limitattions / Future research. The projections for further research are to analyze the relationship between the transformational leadership approach and team performance, add other dimensions, and measure their common effects on such relationship. Abstract:
Purpose – to develop the logistics system (LS) model of an enterprise that allows performing joint model optimization of production capacity, retail network, and advertising campaign using J. Forrester's approach. Findings. The paper elaborates on a numerical method for solving the optimization problem based on a system of equations in discrete time form. There we had the time behavior computations of all logistics system rates (production and supply), including the stocks’ level in the wholesale and retail sales networks. The optimization problem of determining the maximum economic efficiency is formulated and solved. Theoretical implications. The paper's research performed in the paper forms a methodological basis for the mathematical model development of various logistics systems. Practical implications. The created model is applicable for optimizing or determining the logistics systems’ optimal parameters. Originality/Value. The authors' logistics system model is original. The model has no analogs in the scientific literature. Research limitations/Future research. The main limitation is producing one type of product by an enterprise. Further research should reflect the product diversification possibility. Paper type – theoretical.

Abstract:
Purpose – to develop project management terminology. Findings. This study indicates thе significant changes that occurred in working conditions in the last centuries that led to the new models' formation of employee interaction at enterprises, especially remotely, such as distributed, virtual, and dispersed project teams. Clarification of the terminology of project management indicates the meaning of the term "distributed team". This paper separated the term from several related concepts and demonstrated the benefits of integrating distributed project teams within an enterprise. Originality/Value. Paper analyzes the term, features and differences of the distributed project team from other types of remote teams. Practical implications. The terminology of remote project team can beused by project managers from a theoretical point of view. Research limitations/Future research. Abstract:
Purpose – to research the effect of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) on the corporate financial performance (CFP) of quoted banks in Nigeria. Design/Method/Research approach. Using data of corporate social responsibility expenditure as a proxy for CSR and the trio of return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and bank earnings per share (EPS) as a proxy for CFP, regression analysis was conducted. ROA, ROE, and EPS data were collected from the banks’ financial statements for the period 2012 – 2016. Findings. In particular, our analysis and findings suggest that CSR expenditure had no significant effect on all the three proxies of CFP of quoted banks in Nigeria. It supports the arguments in the literature that financial performance alone does not justify expenditure on CSR activities by the quoted Nigerian banks. Practical implications. Our results show that there is a need for banks to consider other factors to see if the case for CSR activities exists. If they do not, the banks should stop engaging in these activities to increase the banks’ profitability. Paper type – empirical.

Abstract:
Purpose – to investigate reasons and conditions impacting payment preferences. Design/Method/Approach. In this exploratory study, we apply the Implicit Association Test in order to investigate whether the prejudice of the population of some countries such as Germany preferring cash holds. Findings. Cash payments still play a major role in a number of countries although other payment options, namely card payments, are promoted heavily. We discover that the type of payment and the level of control are implicitly associated. We manipulate the emotions of fear and joy. The relationship changes when participants experience fear, whereas emotion of joy does not produce statistically significant effects. Practical implications. The results have major implications for the design of payment processes. Originality/Value. Our study helps explain preferences with regard to payment types as well as predict them as a response to scary or joyful events. Research limitations/Future research: Generalizability is limited. Logical and critical, abstract-logical methods are used for the theoretical generalization of crucial approaches to the formation of resource-efficiency strategies based on the circular economy. Abstract:
Purpose – to investigate the relationship between job security and labor productivity among 45,506 companies from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Latvia. Design/Method/Approach. This article uses linear regression analysis based on data from the period of 2013-2017. Findings. The study indicates an inverse U-shaped relationship between employment volatility, as measured by the coefficient of variation, and labor productivity. Labor productivity increases along with employment fluctuation up to a certain point; however, when employees feel insecure, their labor productivity deteriorates. Surprisingly, for most companies, the relationship between employment fluctuation and labor productivity remains positive. Labor productivity gets affected positively by the security feeling rather than by guaranteeing the job position. Originality/Value. The results are consistent within the subsamples of the five individual countries in the sample and robust to two alternative measures of fluctuation, the mean absolute deviation, and the studentized range. Abstract:
Purpose – to investigate the Month of the year effect in the cryptocurrency market. Design/Method/Research Approach. A number of parametric and non-parametric technics are used, including average analysis, Student's t-test, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis statistic test, and regression analysis with the use of dummy variables. Findings. In general (case of overall testing – when all data is analyzed at once) calendar the Month of the Year Effect is not present in the cryptocurrency market. But results of separate testing (data from the period “suspicious for being anomaly” with all the rest of the data, except the values which belong to the “anomaly data set”) shows that July and August returns are much lower than returns on other months. These are the worst months to buy Bitcoins. Theoretical implications. Results of this paper claim to find some holes in the efficiency of the cryptocurrency market, which can be exploited. This contradicts the Efficient Market Hypothesis. Practical implications. Results of this paper claim to find some holes in the efficiency of the cryptocurrency market, which can be exploited. Abstract:
Purpose – to formulate and justify the optimal system model for managing sustainable economic development of a hotel and restaurant business. Design/Method/Approach. A theoretical generalization, logical-critical and economic-mathematical analysis patterns of functioning of a business as an economic system, based on systemic, process and target methodological approaches. Findings. The regularities of the business operating as an economic system are investigated. The system, target and process approaches to managing a business entity by developing a methodology related to the target functions formation of the individual subsystems and processes that make up the business activity are studied to identify patterns of their interaction and achieve an integrated result with the greatest efficiency. A structural-logical model of the control system is formed under the influence of disturbing environmental factors based on the objective functions and established vectors of sustainable economic development of the hotel and restaurant business, taking into account monitoring of its performance. Practical implications. The research results allow formulating the target management system for the sustainable economic development of the hotel and restaurant businesses based on monitoring costs as elements of the resources consumed, and effectively get adapted to environmental changes through integration of engineering, technology, economics, planning and management methods. Originality/Value. There was proposed a method for the system formation for managing sustainable economic development of a hotel and restaurant business based on cost monitoring, which, unlike existing ones, based on a set of system, process and target approaches and enables by differentiation processes occurring within the business and establishing patterns of their functional links with indicators of resource costs, provide forecasting and planning of performance. Abstract:
Purpose – to conduct an empirical test over the effect of entrepreneurship competency on business performance using Internet technology-based business applications. Design/Method/Approach. The research population is from small-and-medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the city of Tarakan. The determined sample is based on the observed area; hence, the technique is called probability sampling area. The data analysis technique is Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), run by WarpPls 6.0. Findings. This research's results indicate that entrepreneurship competency has a positive impact on Internet technology-based business applications. Besides, internet technology-based business application mediates the effect of entrepreneurship competency on business performance. Theoretical implications. The results support the Resource-Based View Theory, stating that the competitive advantage of an enterprise is derived from its unique resource. Practical implications. Internet technology-based business applications can be used as entrepreneurship strategies to develop business performance. Originality/Value. The originality of this research is the internet technology-based business application as a mediating variable between entrepreneurship competence and business performance. Abstract:
Purpose – to identify the relationship between performance appraisal and quality of working life. Explicitly, investigate the effects of firms’ performance appraisal on quality of working life (QWL). Design/Method/Approach. The study is based on the three businesses data operating in the Republic of Kosovo with ninety-seven (n=97) individual respondents (employees). The study’s questionnaires of the study were prepared, the responses obtained, the econometric model was constructed to empirically test this relationship, and the questionnaires data were processed by the IBM SPSS v.25.0 program as a tool to provide the statistic findings. Results and proposals are brought forward by the matched t-test, independent t-test sample, ANOVA, and regression, which were applied for testing hypotheses. Findings. Econometric results suggested that applying performance appraisal in the correct way and for appropriate goals, improves job satisfaction, employees’ satisfaction, motivation to employees, and as a result the quality of working life. Theoretical implications. The theoretical significance of this study is the increases of opinion and the change of judgment for the effects of performance appraisal on quality of working life. Practical implications. The practical benefit of this study is that it can provide a guideline for managers to apply performance appraisal in the correct manner to increase the quality of working life, and as a result to improve their organization’s performance. Originality/Value. The importance of quality of working life has been recognized. It is the first paper that examines the relationship between performance appraisal and quality of working life and finds out their interactions using quantitative methods. Purpose – to review modern marketing concepts, definitions of the constituent elements in the marketing system at enterprises and to substantiate the basic postulates underlying the development of innovative marketing at enterprises in order to improve competitiveness of products. Design/Method/Approach. In the course of the study we used methods of theoretical generalization, reasoning and abstraction, as well as analytical, monographic, dialectic methods. Findings. We have revealed the essence and content of the concept of marketing. It has been substantiated that the development of marketing support is a sophisticated dialectical process of interaction between factors from the external environment and the targeted influence of drivers associated with the production of competitive products that satisfy certain market needs. We have reviewed and substantiated the essence, objectives, basic tools and principles of marketing function. We have developed and scientifically substantiated organizational components in the innovative marketing at enterprises based on ensuring the coordinated interaction between their innovation and marketing activities. The essence, content, and principles of the term "innovative marketing" have been defined. We propose a classification of varieties of innovative marketing depending on their functional belonging. Practical implications. Results of the study can be used in the development of proposals related to the effective formation and application of marketing at an enterprise. Originality/Value. Abstract:
Purpose – to investigate the state of development of organizational culture of legal entities engaged in tourism business in order to further improve the mechanism of development of organizational and cultural resources involved in the international tourism business. Design/Method/Approach. The method of analysis has been applied when investigating the state of market development of tourism business; the questionnaire method ‒ when assessing the state of development of organizational culture of the tourism business in Dnipropetrovsk oblast; the method of logical generalization ‒ to draw conclusions based on the results of the survey. Findings. Author has analyzed current market of tourist services and revealed main trends in development. The trend of further development of the sector has been illustrated; active growth in the number of accommodation facilities has been identified, specifically hotel chains. The rating of hotel brands has been compiled, which compares national and international hotel brands in terms of the number of accommodation facilities available in the tourist market. The author has given the authentic definition of organizational and cultural resources in the business of international tourism. Competitiveness factors for the entities of tourism business have been determined, which include organizational culture among the organizational and cultural resources. An express-algorithm has been presented in order to evaluate the state of development of the organizational culture of a tourism business entity. The results of the study graphically illustrate the assessment of the state of development of the organizational culture by the tourism business entities in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. Practical implications. The research results will be applied in the further formation of the mechanism of development of organizational and cultural resources in tourism business. The proposed express-algorithm and the questionnaire could be used in order to estimate the state of development of organizational culture by enterprises in different businesses. Originality/Value. The scientific-theoretical provisions for the formation of tourism business in Ukraine have been further developed through the assessment of state of development of organizational culture, which, in contrast to existing ones, are based on the results of surveying the entities of tourism infrastructure, which makes it possible to identify the main components in the system of competitiveness management by assessing key performance indicators in the management system related to the development of organizational and cultural resources. Abstract:
Purpose. The purpose of this work is to investigate processes constituting to Dynamic Capabilities in companies of the German financial services industry. Design/Method/Approach. Exploratory with a qualitative approach and a multiple case study method. Findings. The results indicate a connection of Dynamic Capabilities and the dynamism of the environment. The actual Dynamic Capabilities seem to operate in business model related activities, such as distribution channels, but not in product development. Theoretical implications. Suggestions are given for the development of a comparative measurement concept for Dynamic Capabilities. furthermore, the inclusion of environmental dynamism in the research is emphasized. Practical implications. Firms can use the structure of sensing, seizing and reconfiguration and apply the dimensions for the relational measurement to evaluate their innovation activities. Originality/Value. Connections of Dynamic Capabilities to the environmental dynamism were found. Abstract:
Purpose – to identify the theoretical aspects of enterprise reputation. Design/Method/Research approach. Authors applied a structural-functional method in the course of systemic investigation and substantiation of the methodological toolset of enterprise reputation assessment and the method of logical generalization when analyzing the evolution of scientific views on the nature of the notion "reputation". The information base of this research is the monographic works and scientific publications on relevant subjects. Findings. Authors have substantiated the theoretical aspects of enterprise reputation, according to which the reputation of an enterprise is formed under the influence of both intangible and tangible factors. Approaches to defining reputation of an enterprise were systemized, with their new classification proposed, which distinguishes the immanent-functional, value, emotional (image), monitoring, market, and integrated approaches. Current methodological toolset of enterprise reputation assessment has been analyzed, and the scope of its application has been determined, as well as the main advantages and disadvantages. An algorithm for evaluating an enterprise reputation has been developed, in accordance with the proposed theoretical approach, a market share, and the totality of consumers values. Practical implications. Results of this study could form the basis for forming a policy of an enterprise concerning the activation of reputation management processes with the purpose of strategic development of the enterprise and in order to faster meet the expectations of its stakeholders, which would provide a synergistic effect. Originality/Value.Authors proposed to define the essence of the notion of an enterprise "reputation", which, in contrast to existing interpretations, focuses on the cognitive-contemplative characteristic of an enterprise, which is formed based on the results of comparing the totality of tangible, intangible, personal, and social values, inherent to its external and internal stakeholders; changing them in time and space indirectly affects positioning of the enterprise in the market as a result of change in the way its stakeholders perceive it. Purpose – to elucidate the «economic nature» of an emergencies, to expand the list of reasons for the formation and consequences of the emergencies, taking into account the economic component, and to provide a description of their interrelation in this process. Design/Method/Approach. This work evaluates and summarizes studies that provide economic characteristics and assess the causes and consequences of a emergencies. Findings. An analysis of previous studies on emergencies pointed to a limited focus on economic issues associated. In this paper, the authors substantiated the feasibility and proposed to highlight the economic component in the management of prevention of emergencies, in the management of minimizing negative consequences and to consider this component in the classification of types of emergencies. This work focuses on the causal link between economic costs for the prevention, elimination and elimination of the effects of emergencies (economic losses) in the emergency management system. The examples have proved that all of the emergency preceding processes are economical, that emergency actions are limited to an economic factor, and that emergency situations can have economic consequences. An economic component can be both a cause and a consequence of an emergency. At the same time, the economic causes of emergencies directly affect only the economic consequences (inflation - impoverishment of the population), and their impact on the remaining consequences - indirect, due to the impact of other factors-consequences. Theoretical implications. This research identifies a new classification group "economic circumstances" in the classification of types of emergencies for the causes of the emergence and spheres of manifestation of the consequences. Practical implications. The isolation and systematization of the economic component of emergencies allows us to take into account the economic factor in the development of appropriate prevention algorithms, actions in emergencies or actions to eliminate the negative effects of these events. Originality/Value. The originality of the work is to illustrate the connection between the cause of emergencies and each of its manifestations with the help of the fan matrix. This approach has allowed a clearer outline and a clear indication of the causal relationship in the processes associated with the emergency situation. For example, a causal relationship with the types of emergencies based on the economic component is illustrated with the aid of a fan matrix. Research limitations/Future research. This research is the basis for further improvement of approaches to the estimation of economic indicators of emergencies taking into account the proposed classification groups of types of emergencies. Проаналізовано стан трудового потенціалу Житомирської області за демографічною складовою, включаючи динаміку природного приросту населення. Abstract:
Purpose – examining transitory effects of extraversion and openness to experience on employee turnover. Design/Method/Approach. Fully observed recursive mixed process model. Findings. Results show that (i) extraversion positively predicts turnover and that (ii) openness does not predict turnover. Moreover, comparing size effects between studies reveals that only extraversion has significantly more positive effect on employee turnover, which is in contradiction with previous meta-analysis. Theoretical implications. This research identifies a plausible boundary condition – national culture – in examining how a person’s personality impact employee turnover in organizations. It highlights the shortcomings of previous meta-analysis that failed to incorporate differences in societal values and business contexts and identifies. Practical implications. In studying cultural contexts and value congruencies, this study contributes to the international human resources literature by identifying boundary conditions that explain how personality impacts employee turnover. Originality/Value. This study is the first to analyze the effects of personality on turnover using a within-individual unfolding and holistic model. Research limitations/Future research. The current study incorporates only a sample from a single country. Застосовано системний підхід при обґрунтуванні концептуальної схеми розвитку регіонального ринку праці та метод логічного узагальнення – при обґрунтуванні чинників розвитку регіонального ринку праці відповідно до очікувань його суб’єктів. Інформаційна основа дослідження – монографічні роботи та наукові публікації за його тематикою. Результати дослідження. Обґрунтовано доцільність запровадження заходів щодо розвитку ринку праці в Україні на її сучасному етапі соціально-економічного та суспільно-політичного розвитку. Визначено основних суб’єктів ринку праці, до яких було віднесено найманих працівників, роботодавців та органи влади. Узагальнено чинники розвитку ринку праці на основі диференціації цілей суб’єктів ринку праці. Обґрунтовано характерні риси розвитку ринку праці. Створено концептуальну схему розвитку регіонального ринку праці, що враховує очікування та вимоги суб’єктів, бар’єри та проблеми на шляху розвитку, напрями задоволення очікувань і подолання бар’єрів й індикатори розвитку ринку праці. Process innovation is linked to a high failure rate (between 50% - 80%), which acts as a deterrent for many managers and companies. Through understanding the requirements and opportunities of process innovation, managers can intelligently decide whether it is best for their company to pursue or avoid process innovation. Abstract:
Purpose – to identify in the literature the main activities of Social Agriculture and elaborate a framework easily readable to manage them. Design/Method/Approach –systematic literature review. Findings. Formulation of an interpretative framework for evaluation and management of the existing Social Agriculture actions trough a system-describing pattern. Theoretical implications. Care farms are the most innovative expressions of the agriculture multifunctional. Through the development of complementary activities related to the production of food, they represent an opportunity to discover the innumerable resources of the rural world. An assessment system of the care farming activities, allows for reaching a clear definition of the services for the citizens. Practical implications. Individuals can use Social Agriculture as a way out of job-related stress. Firms, local, and national authorities should evaluate, support, and manage Social Agriculture. Originality/Value. This study for the first time concludes that the rural context and agricultural process are the drivers to promote social integration in the communities. Therefore, the meaning of the Social Agriculture assessment systems obtaining a great importance both for the value' increase of the farmer and for the increase of support for social policies in marginal areas. Abstract:
Purpose. This conceptual paper takes the firms’ perspective about practical implications of the theory of the global commons. Global commons are the areas and resources defined as those being beyond national jurisdictions. Their governance, today, however, is still coordinated largely by national states. Design/Method/Approach. This paper introduces a firm's perspective based on the global commons approach. Findings. At present, companies deal with national governments concerning their emissions and, perhaps, the international emissions trading scheme. Theory argues about the need to shift the responsibility from the national to global governmental levels, i. e. the United Nations. Theoretical implications. Given the input orientation put forward by this approach, companies – except fossil fuel extractors – would not actually have to deal with any governmental or regulatory bodies but can focus their capabilities on what they are best at: serving the needs of their customers. Fossil fuel extracting companies, in order to sell these fossil fuels, will have to purchase the amount of emission rights before they sell the fuel into the economic cycle. This approach establishes an economic incentive for companies to employ technologies with low or zero fossil fuel consumption while making the transition path predictable. The underlying concept, therefore, can also be referred to as an immissions scheme (from Latin immissio, “to let in”). Originality/Value. Governing a global common through national structures is inappropriate and does not reflect the nature of the underlying resource. This paper proposes a solution to the problem of global climate change. Further research. Further research is needed to address the effect of this strategy on different industries, and how those are affected based on the degree to which they employ fossil fuels. Paper type – сonceptual.

Abstract:
Мета роботи – обґрунтувати вплив проектного підходу на створення позитивного іміджу регіону. Результати дослідження. Висунуто гіпотезу про позитивний вплив проектного підходу на формування іміджу території. Доведено, що регіони, в яких спостерігається активне впровадження проектів розвитку території, є більш привабливими як для інвесторів, так і для туристів. Розроблено алгоритм створення іміджу території з позиції проектного підходу на основі моделі бізнес-інжинірингу, який передбачає діагностичний, проектний, контрольний етапи. Кожний етап розкрито в стадіях та конкретних роботах. Доведено необхідність застосування клієнтоорієнтованих технологій у розробці іміджу території: проект повинен спиратися на очікування населення, влади, інвесторів, гостей регіону від тих можливостей, що надає територія. Показано, як розкриваються функції менеджменту іміджу завдяки проектному підходу. Практичне значення дослідження. Результати дослідження можуть бути цікавими для практиків державного менеджменту в Україні, оскільки комплексної концепції іміджмейкінгу територій не має жодний регіон цієї держави. Оригінальність/цінність/наукова новизна дослідження. Вперше запропоновано адаптувати практику проектного підходу в розробці іміджу економічних регіонів України. Перспективи подальших досліджень. Abstract:
Purpose – to analyze the process of organizational learning in development of organizational competences in two educational institutions that offer Higher Technological Education Courses in Brazil. Design/Method/Approach. As for the methodology, the nature of the research is exploratory, with a qualitative approach, and a multiple case study method. Findings. The results made it possible to conclude that there was a learning process at the organizational level, as new knowledge and new practices had been institutionalized. Based on the data found in each case, it was possible to certify that some competences can be built and others eliminated, shaping the dynamic character of the process. Theoretical implications. It was possible to corroborate the model used (Patriotta, 2003) and propose advances to it, towards an understanding of organizational learning processes in the development of organizational competences. Practical implications. The manager can see competences in dynamics, changing over time and in the context of the organization, according to the events and changes in their objectives, intentions, and strategies. Originality/Value. We found that organizational learning is the result of the acquisition of a competence that represents this process. Using a metaphor, it was found that the competences of an organization represent the 'DNA' of the organizational learning. Research limitations/Future research. This paper analyzed two cases only and new case studies are needed to characterize more fully on these results. Paper type – empirical.

Abstract:
Purpose. The main purpose of the research is to investigate the role of the marketing strategies and to verify if adopting a set of marketing strategies matching the company’s operation to can be a successful way to generate growth in sales and loyal customers for all sized businesses. Design/Method/Approach. This research consists of a systematic literature review of academic articles compatible with the marketing field topics. A hypothesis is designed based on a theoretical framework and two case studies are investigated. It is tested through applying examples of two renowned companies, Xerox and HubSpot, that adopted their preferred set of marketing techniques and gained higher profits and larger loyal customer segments. Findings. Based on collected data and its analysis, it can be said that following correctly selected marketing techniques can lead to increased sales and loyal consumers. Practical implications. Companies’ marketing policies about choosing marketing channels needs to carefully be monitored and updated in order to reach long-term successful effects. Originality/Value. The negotiation process between buyer and seller is strict, long-term and complex in business. Subsequently, selling the product is not sufficient if the buyers do not get offered good quality services to leave them pleased and consequently loyal in the long term. Abstract:
Purpose: the creation of a questionnaire for business process maturity measurement. Design/Method/Approach. The authors developed a set of items and applied confirmatory factor analysis in order to demonstrate questionnaire validation and reliability. Findings. The model supports prior research to the extent that business process maturity can be explained by strategic alignment, governance and culture. Surprisingly, methodology showed weak result and IT & Technology as well as people did not seem to be part of the model. Theoretical implications. This research not only confirmed prior research but also showed that there is wiggle room regarding the underlying factors of business process maturity and how to apply them. Practical implications. This research provides a questionnaire for practitioners to assess business process maturity. Originality/Value. The authors created a questionnaire that can be used in practice and is based on factors backed up by academic research and findings. Research limitations/Future research. The authors suggests applying the questionnaire to a larger sample size as well as expanding the statistical methods used. Paper type – empirical.

Abstract:
Цель работы – проанализировать современные тенденции и состояние международного рынка ведущих криптовалют и оценить возможные перспективы их дальнейшего развития и интеграции в мировую финансовую систему. Результаты исследования. Ретроспективно прослежена история происхождения и становления Биткоина (Bitcoin), рассмотрены некоторые особенности «Блокчейн» («Blockchain»). Проанализированы положительные и отрицательные стороны работы с криптовалютами. Рассмотрена ближайшая по капитализации к Биткоину криптовалюта Эфир (Ethereum) и проанализированы основные различия между ними. На основе проведенного исследования сформирован прогноз о наиболее вероятном направлении развития рынка криптовалют на ближайшее будущее и о возможности их интеграции в мировую финансовую систему. Теоретическое значение исследования. Настоящее исследование и его результаты будут способствовать решению глобальной научной задачи – формированию научно-обоснованного мнения академической науки к новому феномену в экономике – криптовалютам и их роли в мировой финансовой системе. Оригинальность/ценность/научная новизна исследования. Работа является одной из немногих, посвященных новому явлению в экономике – криптовалютам; представлены авторские прогнозы о возможных направлениях дальнейшего развития рынка криптовалют. Abstract:
Purpose/Research question. The increased opportunities for surveillance in glass offices motivate the study to pursue the following research question: how does normative control operate in a glass office working environment? Design/Method/Approach. A case study approach was adopted in order to explore the phenomenon in its context. The empirical data consist of twenty semi-structured interviews conducted at the business school of a large UK-based university. Findings. The article reveals the cognitive and emotional experiences of working in a glass office. Normative control is exercised through the building`s design and through managerial discourse. The study also captures employees´ response to the control attempt related to resistance to exposure and impression management. Theoretical implications and Originality. Prior literature that investigates the concept of organizational space as a structure of control links it to bureaucratic control functioning vertically through direct managerial supervision and instructions. The present article demonstrates how control can work on the horizontal level through the management of beliefs, norms, emotions, and social influence. Research limitations/Future research. To the limitations of this research belong issues concerning internal validity, such as the inability to use multiple sources of data generation (observations, document analysis) in order to ensure triangulation. Abstract:
Purpose – to describe a compliance-monitoring equilibrium in presence of compatibility costs in a setting when managers and other parties have different attitude towards compliance. Design/Method/Approach. Classical game theory – Nash equilibrium. Findings. If compatibility costs are small, there exist a unique stable Nash equilibrium of the game between the tax authority and a population of heterogeneous firms. In this equilibrium, the relation between compatibility costs and compliance is non-monotonic and depends on the curvature of auditing function. However, compatibility costs reduce non-compliance in low cheating regimes and may enhance it when many firms are cheating. Limitations. The model is at high level of abstraction and neglects many important detail that characterize each field where it could be potentially applied. Theoretical implications. The results provide one rationale for developing countries to be cautious with employing refined auditing schemes and for developed countries to promote complicated accounting procedures. Originality/value. Compatibility costs are not previously considered in economic analysis of compliance. Paper type – conceptual.
