Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to describe the birthplace of Brazilian Tokyo 2020 Olympic athletes, and to investigate the states-related variables associated with winning an Olympic medal. Data were collected based on the Brazilian Olympic Committee official list of athletes competing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and from ESTADIC research (2016) and Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Binary Logistic Regression was used with the purpose to estimate the chances of the states have athletes who won an Olympic medal. All the analysis was performed in JAMOVA, considering p<0.05. Sample comprised 303 athletes, from the five Brazilian regions. The model comparisons indicated that the second model was the best to explain the chances of the state have an athlete who won an Olympic medal (Model 2 versus Model 1: c² = 21.41; p<0.001; Model 3 versus Model 2: c² = 2.77; p = 0.429). So, age (OR= 0.91; CI95% = -0.15 – -0.2) and to be part in team sports (OR= 4.36; CI95% = 0.80 – 2.15) are associated with chances to winning an Olympic medal. The most of Brazilian Olympic athletes in Tokyo 2020 were born in Southeast region, especially in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro states. The best model to explain associations with chances to winning a medal was composed to meso-level variables, and it was not found significant association between the macro-level characteristics investigated with the chances to be a medalist.

Abstract:
The objective of this research is to provide a retrospective view of the Bolsa Atleta Program, from the perspective of its legislation, taking into account the periodization proposed by the authors. Official documents on the Bolsa Atleta program served as a basis for consultation. The analysis of selected documents was based on the following categories: beneficiaries, financial resources, control, and penalties. The creation of the Bolsa Atleta program took place in the Pre-Games Rio 2016 phase and was intended to establish a direct relationship between the Ministry of Sport and athletes, serve the beneficiaries according to technical criteria defined by Law and enable financing for the needs of athletes with a good technical level, but without financial support to maintain your sport activity. Due to the country's achievement in hosting the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, changes were made to the program. The most significant of these was the lifting of the ban on receiving sponsorship in cash and salary. Two other changes that took place during the Games phase were greater control of the criteria and choice of competitions by the Ministry of Sport and the impediment of athletes caught in the doping test from receiving the benefit. After the completion of Rio 2016, Post-Games phase, there was only one change in the legislation, which was the athlete's faculty to join the General Social Security System.

Abstract:
The process of forming athletes' identities still begins in the youth categories, during adolescence. Unlike other social groups that develop professional skills, the athlete has their time dedicated to training and competing, becoming alienated from other forms of socialization. Sports professionalization began in Brazil during the 1980s. This movement generated profound changes not only in the exercise of the profession of athlete, but also in the constitution of the identity of this professional who has a short productive trajectory and early retirement, compared to other professions. The so-called career transition, the athlete's retirement has profound consequences in the lives of those people who are used to having social visibility, public harassment, and recognition for their achievements, which are not common to average citizens. Volleyball was the first professional sport in the country, serving as an example to other institutions. However, this pioneering spirit was not reflected in the athletes' preparation to withdraw from competitive life. In 2021, for the first time, the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation prepared a career transition program for athletes who competed in professional court and beach tournaments. The objective of this research is to analyze how the career transition process takes place between volleyball and beach volleyball athletes and the construction of a new identity after moving away from competitive life.

Abstract:
The main objective of this study is to trace historical efforts to include baseball in the 1936 Olympics, paralleled with the internationalization of that sport. This study is presented in the format of a historical narrative. The research material was mainly drawn from primary sources located in the United States of America and Canada. Results show that Leslie Mann, a former American player, was one who significantly contributed to make the 1936 baseball Olympic exhibition distinctly better organized than previous experiences. The 1936 Olympic baseball demonstration was one of the most important accomplishments to the internationalization of baseball and an important benchmark to Baseball in the Olympic scenario.

Abstract:
Throughout history, women have been prohibited from practicing competitive activities in different contexts and times, either because of the social space they could occupy, or arguments related to their biology and body constitution. The woman's body, mainly related to her fertility aspects, regulated to determinants of her social possibilities. Under the mythical bias, the distinct sacred female figures were those who gave the gift of life, the creation of things, often without needing any male figure, putting the issues of motherhood in focus. At a certain time, the practice of physical activity could favor women in what would, or still is, said as their natural function, but always in masculine determinations. Although with the different changes over time, Brazilian Olympic women athletes had occupied these spaces and roles, carrying them with all their burdens, responsibilities and blame, both in the desire or concretization of motherhood, as well as in the express will of not fulfill this imposed role. That said, using biographical narratives, this article aims to discuss the issues of motherhood that involve sport and, especially, Brazilian Olympic athletes.
