Abstract:
The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between Iranian senior high school EFL learners’ satisfaction with online education and their anxiety level during COVID-19 outbreak. To this end, 180 students from two senior high schools were asked to participate in this study. Based on the performance of the participants on the Quick Placement Test, the researcher recruited 100 students through availability sampling. To determine the anxiety level of the participants, the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale was employed. Moreover, the satisfaction questionnaire was used to check the learners’ satisfaction with online education. The Pearson correlation was run to determine the correlation between different levels of anxiety and e-learners’ satisfaction. The results indicated that there was a significant negative correlation between these variables. In other words, as the anxiety level of the participants increased, their satisfaction with online education decreased to a significant extent. Abstract:
Contemporary pedagogical experts have stressed the importance of context in education as a critical determinant of the success of learning outcomes. These recent arguments stem from earlier scholars who claimed that the context of education is often taken for granted, although its influence on teaching and learning is crucial. Perhaps the main reason the context of learning is often ignored is that it has been defined vaguely over the years. Educational context is less understood because it comprises many aspects, including culture, history, social factors, and national ethos, influencing people’s perceptions and understanding. The relationship between context and education outcome remains unclear due to the lack of a clear definition. Since context plays a key role in influencing education outcomes, ambitious policies on educational reforms must consider the context of learning to be implemented successfully. Abstract:
The advances in information technology have brought dramatic changes to the means and methods of learning, making it possible to learn everywhere and every time. In line with educational transformations, e-Learning has gained additional significance. Educational CDs and multimediasoftware have triggered substantial changes in education (Zandi, 2009). Given the importance of language skillsin every academic level, especially the primary level, the proper instructions of these skills should be a concern to educational authorities. Writing, as it plays a crucial role to sustain language, is of significance importance and should be heeded (Birjandi, 2002). While the direct instruction of spelling on the basis of psychologicalprinciples is highly recommended in today’s educational systems, spelling is still assumed to be an assessment instrumentrather than an educational one in Iran’s curriculum. Investigating the educational texts and reliable websites, the present study aims to plan an e-learning curriculum for spelling based on cognitive approach. Abstract:
In the process of reforming education, it has become no longer possible to discuss pedagogy, curriculum, instruction, academic achievement, or the culture and climate of schools without discussing social-emotional competencies under the framework of social and emotional learning. This paper attempted to explore some of the complications within the building and implementing an educational curriculum. The study discusses educational pedagogy in the existing literature. Based on the findings, education requires more dedicated and school-specific reflection into where things go wrong. Due to the broad range of skills and unfurling neuroscience behind emotional intelligence, it can be proposed that a lack of ownership of these competencies is assisting in a dilution through local authority principles/governments/education boards and to a loosely based school-level approach through individual teachers with little guidance or support. Abstract:
The Peircean semiotic approach suggests a non-linear and dynamic view of culture to examine it through signs, sign systems and meaning-making processes. This approach emphasises that images, texts and tasks are considered semiotic resources, generating cultural meanings through semiotic processes. This study aims to reveal the concept of culture in a dynamic manner concerning the semiotic potential embedded in the Iranian EFL textbooks used in junior high schools from the perspective of a semiotic framework. Semiotic analysis showed that cultural meaning-making is directed through guided semiosis, hampering students’ exploration of cultural potential meanings, cultural reflection, understanding and awareness. The denotational and the indexical relationship between texts and images also does not foster students’ intercultural understanding of living and maintaining in a global community, and hence, teachers need to move towards the symbolic aspect of texts and images through unguided semiosis to develop students’ cultural understanding of self and others. Abstract:
Nedromi speakers, especially the new generation, tend to correct some mistakes that they believe are stigmatised features in their speech and thus they try to shift to Modern Standard Arabic. This research paper aims at examining the impact of education on language use, which highlights the sociolinguistic variable, mainly that of education and age, and how it may affect the linguistic behaviour in Arabic. A Nedroma speech community is the sample population. This study emphasises phonological, morphological and lexical levels of analysis, trying to make use of both quantitative and qualitative methods. Such an analysis is viewed to help us understand some of the reasons behind such a change in linguistic behaviours essentially motivated by the influence of education. The results show that the choice of certain linguistic features by the individual is determined by the speaker’s age category, his level of education and, most importantly, his attitude towards certain linguistic characteristics. Abstract:
It is important to determine the ethical sensitivities of teachers who have high potential to work with experimental animals due to their branches. With this purpose the current study aimed to determine science and biology teachers’ ethical opinions about the use of experimental animals. In order to collect data, the Questionnaire of Opinions about the Use of Experimental Animals developed by Yiğit, et al. (2015) was employed. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, percentages, frequencies, mean values and t-test (N=70). While the science and biology teachers approached to the sixth item “Animals can be used in experiments in which they experience some pain for the benefits of humanity” with higher ethical sensitivity, the female participants were found to be more sensitive towards the second item “Alternative methods should be the first methods to be employed by researchers”. In light of the findings of the current study, it can be suggested that science and biology teachers who are more likely to be involved in experiments in which animals are used (according to the science and biology course contents published by YÖK) should be subjected to trainings during their pre-service and in-service years to raise their ethical sensitivities about the issue; thus, they can help their students more to recognize the value of animals. Abstract:
From a country that subsidizes all areas of social life, non-state actors are not allowed to participate in providing social services. However, after 1986, Vietnam entered the Innovate period, all sectors were able to participate in social services, including education. Socialization in the field of education, which is a major policy of the State of Vietnam, has initially achieved certain results in mobilizing social resources to meet the increasing needs of the people. However, in fact, this field still has many limitations and obstacles, one of the basic and important reasons is that the awareness of socialization in the field of education still has inconsistent and inconsistent contents transparently at all levels, sectors as well as the whole society. Using qualitative research methods, this article will briefly outline the entire socialization work in the education sector in Vietnam, from which there are suggestions to promote the effectiveness of this work.

Abstract:
Scientific and practical examinations of pedagogues, educators and teachers are directed to finding the approach, methods and strategies which would motivate students and make them more active in the learning process. One of the ways to achieve this is flipped learning. This article aims to describe some characteristics of flipped learning, and also questions the pedagogic foundation, justification and limits of the usage possibilities and the potential challenges in the implementation of this model into the educational system. The research reports findings based on the trends in flipped learning. By replacing activities carried out in the classroom and at home, students are put into a new situation. A student independently realises the initial contact with the teaching content at home, whereas in the classroom, the activities (with the teacher and other students) that provide understanding and application of the learned are implemented. Keywords: Education, flipped learning, students, teacher, pedagogic.

Abstract:
The current study aimed at examining the relationship between anxiety level of Iranian elementary English as a foreign language learners and the strategies that they adopt for learning English vocabulary. To this end, based on the performance of the participants on the Quick Placement Test, the researcher recruited 100 participants through availability sampling. To determine the strategies that the participants employ for learning English vocabulary, Schmitt’s taxonomy of vocabulary learning (VL) strategies questionnaire was administered. Also, the Spearman correlation was run to determine the correlation between various levels of anxiety and different VL strategies. The findings of the current study indicated that the effects of anxiety can adversely affect a person’s use of VL strategies. Likewise, when there is an increase in anxiety, VL strategy use decreases to a significant extent. Keywords: Vocabulary learning, strategies, foreign language, classroom, anxiety scale.

Abstract:
Language learners’ achievement relies to a great extent on what goes on inside the classroom. The teacher personality types (PTs) and their classroom management orientations (CMOs) play a critical role. The present study intended to explore Iranian English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers’ major PTs and CMOs. Sixty EFL teachers were chosen through the convenience sampling method from foreign language institutes in Isfahan, Iran. They were asked to complete two questionnaires including the Myers–Briggs type indicator and the Behaviour and Instructional Management Scale. Descriptive analysis and Fisher’s exact test were conducted to answer the research questions. The results showed that the extroverted–sensing–thinking–judging (ESTJ) type was the most frequent PT and the interactionalist approach was the major CMO among Iranian EFL teachers teaching at language institutes. The results enhance the understanding of EFL teachers and directors of language institutes on the PT as one crucial factor related to EFL teachers’ behaviour management approaches. Keywords: Classroom orientations, EFL, Iranian teachers, personality types, management orientations.

Abstract:
Most of the educational institutions, from primary level to tertiary level, had to be closed when the coronavirus pandemic affected the world in 2020. Then, educators became concerned about the education of the students as they were completely relying and habituated on face-to-face teaching–learning processes. This paper reports on how the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has faced that challenges in bringing the students to online classes as well as how they assessed and evaluated the students. A survey was conducted among the students who registered for the course with 14 survey questions. From the results, online classes are the best solution to the challenge; some students faced connectivity problems but it was concluded that the main purpose of teaching online is to continue the education process. Despite some challenges encountered, the teaching–learning process of the teachers and students was successful through this newly reformed system of education. Keywords: Online assessment, online class, online teaching, online learning, COVID-19.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to gain an insight into the professional development of Croatian primary education teachers when it comes to informing about media literacy at their County Councils of Experts (CCE) from the perspective of senior advisors for primary education. Five senior advisors were interviewed, and they pointed out that media literacy has sometimes been the topic at the councils, but they consider that it should be more often discussed. The results show that Croatian teachers mostly get information about the theoretical background and present examples of good practice. There are a lot of improvements which might be carried out to encourage media literacy. The results suggest anticipating greater importance to media literacy and the recognition of its importance by the Croatian authorities. Croatian primary education teachers are poorly informed about media literacy at their CCE. These results can be a starting point for further research.
