Abstract:
This article examines dynamics of Islamic discourses in Post-New Order Indonesia, focusing on the birth of Jaringan Islam Liberal/JIL (Islamic Liberalism Network). The network which emerged in 2001 was a result of informal meeting and group discussions of young intellectuals at Jl. Utan Kayu 68 H, East Jakarta who later agreed to establish the JIL. Since its earliest foundation, the networks has been at the forefront to attack Islamic extremist and fundamentalist groups while calling for Islamic liberalism. This article tries to portray the emergence of the JIL and its liberalism agenda and offers the contestation on Islamic liberalism in Indonesia. As for the latter, it not only encapsulates responses of fundamentalist groups, but also important Muslim organisation, like the traditionalist Nahdlatul Ulama/NU and the Modernist Muhammadiyah, and important Indonesian Muslim thinkers. This article further argues that Islamic liberalism that takes its root to Muslim activism during the New Order Indonesia has shaken the basic foundation of a religion as introducing liberalism in Islamic discourses. It has invited contestation and responses for a significant Muslim group, including the two-most important Indonesian Muslim organisations, the NU and the Muhammadiyah. As this article further demonstrates, the contestation is mainly because of different opinions among Muslims on the limit of reason to understand religion.

Abstract:
This article examines the shift in gender relations in the context of the families of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). By taking an object in Rejotangan District as the most PMI area in Tulungagung Regency, this article uses a symbolic approach to attempts to portray the process of interaction between individuals in the context of PMI families. In this case, the concept of patriarchy is no longer valid. The husband begins to play a role in the domestic sector; cooking, taking care of children and doing everything about the household. While the wife, only has a role to fulfill the family’s living, whether as a housemaid, taking care of elderly parents, or in other sectors abroad. Such matter does not only have implications for material-economic factors but also psychologically and sociologically; there is a complexity of family problems whose impact can lead to the destruction of household relations and the education of their children.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This article examines a debate on gender equality, which is considered by some to be in conflict with the Qur’an, an-Nisa [4]:11. Using a philosophical approach and analyzing Sa‘ id Ramadan al-Buti’s concept of inheritance in his Al-Mar’ah Bayna Tughyan al-Nizam al-Gharbi wa Lata’if al-Tashri’ al-Rabbani, this paper tries to refute this allegation and offers a more gender-friendly interpretation. For al-Buti, the verse has actually liberated women because the provisions are caused by the responsibilities imposed by Islam on men as prospective husbands, not on women. On the contrary, if women are more empowered than men, that becomes a moral issue, not a shari’a one. Women have been given freedom by the shari’a in order to determine their choice to participate in bringing about stability in life. A condition that women are more empowered than men will not be the cause of changes in the shari’a’s provisions concerning inheritance.

The excess value exept being a source of law and guidelines for life, we can get a lot of moral values contained therein also. One institution that implements moral education with hadith learning is madin al-ulya, an institution that located in the area of prostitution. Madin al-ulya's efforts are not as easy as turning the hand, because in addition to environmental factors, family and parents background factors are be an obstacle. However, the determination of the teachers in Madin Al-Ulya to continue to instill good moral values deserves appreciation, so that more or less those values influence the behavior of the children in that environment, which in turn begins to form good character.

Abstract:
This paper examines ‘Abd al-Ra’ūf al-Sinkili’s concept of tawhid. Using a historical approach and content analysis, this paper argues that tawhid is an important aspect in Islam and becomes an interesting discourse in the Islamic intellectual tradition, especially Sufism. ‘Abd al-Ra’ūf al-Sinkili stated that the first commitment for a human being is to accept the Oneness of Allah, and purity it from all things inappropriate to Him with the statement of lā ilaha illā Allāh. This affirms that Allah is believed to be the only Being. There is no existence without the existence of Allah (lā ilāha illā Allāh). This statement of creed implies two meanings: to negate any existence (al-nafyu), and to confirm only one existence (al-ithbāt), which is the existence of al-Haqq (the true Being). Al-Sinkili also states that Allah is One, without our attempt to make Him One. Allah is true without a need to truth legitimation from humans.

Abstract:
This article discusses continuities and changes of educational institutions during the political transition from the Seljuq dynasty to the Ottoman sultanate. It diachronically examines elements of education which were transformed and adapted into a new political structure under the political regime, the Ottoman. This article will closely look at institutional transformation and educational curricula as to which the changing political regime affected contents and management of Islamic education. This article further argues that the political transformation from the Seljuq to the Ottoman had generated a new educational system in which the Ottoman imposed the attempts to integrate Islam and modern sciences. At managerial level, the transformation has also invited the introduction of science in Islamic educational system. Western educational system reserved as an important reference for this transformation amid the changing regime from the Seljuq to the Ottoman.

Abstract:
The post-New Order Indonesian politics has provided a political opportunity structure for the state towards democratization. It has a double-edged sword whatsoever: on the one hand democratization could lead to the civic engagement, but on the other hand, it provides a hot bed for the flourishing of anti-civic organization. As for the latter, following the fall of authoritarian regime of new Order in 1998, Indonesians have also witnessed the birth of transnational Islamist and radical organizations threatening the state’s integrity and peaceful coexistence of the citizens. Amid the public appearance of these radical organization, an issue of ideological infiltration and sabotage of radical organization upon mainstreaming moderate Muslim organizations, such as Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah do exist. This article tries to reveal the impacts of a such infiltration practices and the extent that radical narratives win the minds and hearts of important Muslim leaders. Taking a closer a look to Muslim leaders in Sampang district in the island of Madura, the centrum of traditionalist Muslim in Indonesian Islamo-landscape, finds out that intolerant and radical ideologies do resonate clearly among the leaders. This finding resort as an alarm and counter-narrative to the long-admired Islamic traditionalism as an important backbone for moderate Islam in Indonesia.

It further argues that the implementation of principles of multirculturalism reserves as an important element in confronting radical narratives, both from within and without Islamic tradition. It stands as an attempt to create moderate Muslim subjects who persistently uphold principles of inclusivity and transformative learning through opened-deliberation—rather than indoctrination—in education settings.

Abstract:
The development of social media technology provides people with more accessible information about religious knowledge. Everyone can learn the religion from social media, particularly Youtube. This phenomenon seems to force young Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) kiais (religious experts) such as Gus Baha, Gus Miftah, and Gus Muwafiq to be more adaptive and familiar to social media platform, like Youtube. This makes them close to being called “the millennial kiais.” Using a phenomenological approach based on observations on Youtube, this paper examines the performance of millennial kiais in carrying out the process of dakwah (Islamic proselytization) and in becoming role models for social education as they do. The educational interaction carried out by these millennial kiais on Youtube seems to be very effective in attracting the interest of wider citizens. The number of their viewers reaches between four to eight million in one year. The number of videos viewed is around one hundred. The model of social education introduced by these millennial kiais is analyzed through the Bandura theory which starts through a process of stimulation and observation and is followed by a process in mental cognition, which creates motivation and demands a response by clicking the likes button and subscribing comments. The response marks the beginning of a constant change of behavior.

Abstract:
This research was based on mathematics learning in schools that are too formal and theoretical, and are less varied so it affects students' interest in learning mathematics. For this reason, a connection between mathematics outside of school and school mathematics is needed. One way that can be used is to utilize the ethnomathematics approach as the beginning of formal mathematics teaching which is suitable with the students' level of development who are at a concrete operational stage. The same thing was stated that the presence of mathematics with cultural nuances would make a major contribution to school mathematics. The objectives of this research were (1) to find out mathematical activities in the form of numerating, measuring, and calculating in batik activities. (2) To find out the mathematical concepts of geometry and geometrical transformations contained in batik motifs. This research used ethnographic research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis technique used data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. The results showed that (1) in the batik activity at the Gajah Mada Tulungagung batik production house there were mathematical activities in the form of counting when determining the number of tools and materials needed, measuring fabric, calculating night requirements, calculating color comparisons, calculating waterglass requirements, and when calculating water needs. Measuring activity is seen during the process of measuring fabrics and designing batik patterns. The next step of counting activity is seen during the process of cutting fabric from 60 yards into 27 pieces, calculating the plastisin required for 2 meter fabric, and when mixing several colors. (2) There is a mathematical concept of geometry in the form of points, curved lines, triangles and circles, and the concept of geometrical transformation in the form of translation Keywords: Ethnomatematics, Mathematics, Culture, Batik Abstrak Pembelajaran matematika di sekolah yang formal dan teoritis, serta kurang bervariasi akan mempengaruhi minat peserta didik dalam mempelajari matematika. Abstract:
This paper tries to illustrate how the process of social integration and communication strategies of minority groups in the Kapribaden community in discriminatory culture in Candipari Village, Porong District. This paper uses a descriptive method with field observations, interviews and documentation studies. The results of the study show that the integration process occurred due to three discrimination experienced by the Kapribaden group namely the prohibition of ritual worship in Candipari and Candi Sumur, coercion to return to Islam and the prohibition on using village graves for followers who died. Among the three phases of integration, the integration is still in the accommodation phase. The phase in which collaboration is still being carried out despite differences of understanding. That is because there are the same interests and goals. In the accommodation phase, compromise and tolerance are reached, where two or more opponents become equally strong. While the communication strategy undertaken by the Kapribaden group is to use translation by providing resistance.

Abstract:
A study of mathematics integration with technology and Islamic values becomes an interesting topic to be studied by many scholars. The mathematics integration is essential to be applied in learning so that it can make students become Muslim individuals who have excellent character and proficiency in utilizing technology. However, there are still few studies that investigate mathematics integration with technology and Islamic values. Therefore, this study aims to describe phenomena directly related to mathematics learning that contain Islamic values and the use of technology in the learning process. The type of this study was descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were three mathematics teachers who teach at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs). The study procedure was carried out to find the phenomenon of research subjects that occurred at MTs. The validity of the data used the triangulation of the source and method. Data were collected through literature review, interview, and observation. The study results showed that three MTs had applied Islamic values and technology content in mathematics learning. This study recommends the need for innovation in MTs to design mathematics-integrated learning with Islamic values and the use of technology to help teachers create efficient learning, attract students' learning interest, and create an active learning environment for students.

Abstract:
This research aims to describe the mistake of vocational student in solving linier program question in term of conceptual and procedural understanding. The research was conducted at SMKN I Boyolangu Tulungagung. Subject was chosen based on the highest number of mistakes when completing linier program question. Data collection techniques in this research are test and interview. The instruments used in this research were the main instrument and supporting instrument. The main instrument is the researcher itself, while the supporting instrument are the test sheet and interview guidelines. To test the data validity in this research used time triangulation. Data analysis based on indicator of conceptual and procedural understanding that include data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The result of this study indicate that students who make mistake do not have a good conceptual and procedural understanding. This can be seen from subject cannot explain how to solve the question. In addition, subject cannot continue the answer because subject do not know the next step that must be done. Subject alsocan not explain the steps in solving linier program question. For this reason, teacher need to pay attention to students’ understanding when learning in class, especially conceptual and procedural understanding. In addition, teacher mut choose or design a conceptual learning design and procedural understanding to achieve the learning objective.
