Transformer radiators in offshore installations: Building the case for galvanized radiators

Abstract

This paper provides in-depth review and discussion on the optimum way to increase the reliability of transformer radiators installed on corrosive environment. The discussion was sparked based on an actual case of deteriorated sixteen transformer radiators and further went in-depth to evaluate the best coating systems option in terms of cost and durability. The analysis concluded that hot dip galvanized (HDG) radiators are the durable and cost effective option and recommend to standardize the use of hot dip galvanized radiators in offshore corrosive environment.
