Abstract
Assessment of Surgical Disease Burden in Zambia: Research Protocol for a Randomized Cross-Sectional Survey Journal of the American College of Surgeons Vol. 231 Issue 4 In Brief Surgical diseases (SDs) including cataracts, cleft lip/palate, clubfoot, hernia and obstetric fistula result in early mortality or significant disability. The prevalence of surgically treatable diseases in Zambia is unknown. As the country strives to improve surgical services through its National Surgery, Obstetric, and Anaesthesia Plan, understanding the population’s unmet surgical needs becomes necessary. We aim to conduct a national survey to provide reliable information on the magnitude and effect of SDs in Zambia. Full-Text PDF
