Example of Roller Compacted Concrete Dam:İhsaniye Dam and Injection Applications

Abstract
The most important issues to be considered in roller compacted concrete (RCC) dams are to determine whether the bearing capacity values of the dam are sufficient, the presence of soils that may cause differential settlements and the presence of permeable layers in the environment. If there are problems in the environment regarding these issues, it is necessary to strengthen the environment or to provide impermeability where necessary. Injection method is frequently used in the world to complete the construction of dams as impermeable structure. Injection may be needed due to the support of the interface between the bedrock and the dam body and the geological and geotechnical properties of the bedrock. In this paper, the geological characteristics of the main rock under İhsaniye Dam, the drilling works, the materials and equipment used in the injection and the amount of injection are presented.
