Determination of Heavy Metals Concentration in Ground Water Along the Sukhna River Using ICP-OES in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India

Abstract
Ground water is continuously monitor and observed for drinking purposes so that risk from contaminants can be reduced by appropriate treatment methods. In the study area 25 ground water were collected from upstream to downstream of Sukhna River in Aurangabad city to evaluate the heavy metal concentration during post monsoon season in December 2016 with help of Inductively Coupled Plasma- Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES). It is based on emission technique with high accuracy and precision for analyzing heavy metals to trace metals level concentration in water. Total 25 samples were subjected to analysis for eight heavy metals like Lead, Nickel, Zinc, Arsenic, Chromium, Copper, Manganese, iron using this technique. Expect Zinc and Nickel concentrations, levels of remaining heavy metals in all samples are higher than Bureau of Indian standard.
