Rotifera Fauna and Community Structure of Tunca River (Edirne)

Abstract

En tr This research was carried out to determine Rotifera fauna and its community structure in Tunca River which is one of the important transboundary streams in Turkey. For this purpose, zooplankton and water samples were taken periodically between from June 2014 to May 2015 in 4 stations in the river. A total of 20 species of Rotifera were determined in the qualitative evaluation of samples taken from the river. The quantitative evaluation of the samples showed that 1243 ind./m³ Rotifera average was found in Tunca River. Brachionus quadridentatus 36.2 % (450 ind./m³), Keratella quadrata 12.3 % (152 ind./m³), Asplanchna priodonta 11.9 % (148 ind./m³), Brachionus plicatilis 6.4 % (80 ind./m³) and Keratella cochlearis 6.0 % (74 ind./m³) were found to be the most common species. The maximum individual numbers were found in 2rd station with 1496 ind./m3 and autumn season was the period during when the highest individual data (2191 ind./m3 ) was obtained. According to the water quality associations regulations, the physico-chemical features of Tunca River changed according to first and second quality levels. Only the phosphate values were found between third and fourth quality levels. Bu araştırma sınır aşan önemli akarsularımızdan Tunca Nehri’nde Rotifera’nın komminite yapısını ve çeşitliliğini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada Tunca Nehri’nde belirlenen 4 istasyonda Haziran 2014-Mayıs 2015 tarihleri arasında periyodik olarak Rotifera örnekleri toplanırken bu organizmaları etkileyen bazı çevresel parametrelerde ölçülmüştür. Rotifera’da 20 tür tespit edilirken Tunca Nehri’nde yıllık ortalama 1243 birey/m³ Rotifera bireyi bulunmuştur. En yaygın türler olarak Brachionus quadridentatus % 36,2 (450 birey/m³), Keratella quadrata % 12,3 (152 birey/m³), Asplanchna priodonta %11,9 (148 birey/m³), Brachionus plicatilis % 6,4 (80 birey/m³), Keratella cochlearis % 6,0 (74 birey/m³) bulunmuştur. En fazla organizma sonbahar (2191 birey/m³) mevsiminde ve 2. istasyonda (1496 birey/m³) tespit edilmiştir. Tunca Nehri’nin ölçülen çevresel parametreler Yüzeysel Su Kalitesi Yönetmeliği’ne göre değerlendirilmiş ve nehir suyunun genel olarak I. ila II. sınıf su kalitesi arasında değiştiği, sadece fosfat değerleri açısında III. ila IV. sınıf su kalitesi arasında olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
