Abstract
Drawing on the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture Lecture Archive in the collection of the Archives of American Art, this essay asks what we might learn both about and from the artist talk, a form of public address that is ubiquitous, understudied, and perhaps even a dialogic model beyond the bounds of art.Keywords
