Análise das políticas de plágio na publicação científica: o caso de um segmento de revistas da área de Ciências Humanas na América Latina

Abstract
Plagiarism is unacceptable in science, particularly when it appears in scientific publications, due to the enormous damage and risk it may pose to the credibility of published results. This study analyzed 14 journals indexed in Brazil's Scientific Electronic Library Online database which focus on anthropology, linguistics, and archeology, five international and nine Brazilian. Qualitative and quantitative approaches were used, along with interviews to collect data. Seven of the 14 journals adopt international practices and standards, notably a 2018 good practice guide for scientific publication provided on the Scientific Electronic Library Online website as well as guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics, and "Recommendations for the conduct, reporting, editing, and publication of scholarly work in medical journals" of 2019. Only seven adopt the Creative Commons Attribution License. Ethics is an essential issue for humanity, and the scientific arena is no different. Brazilian and international standards contain experiences that can be extremely valuable in the academic environment as a response when unintentional plagiarism appears, and represent important measures that should be taken by scientific editors.
