Magnesium

Abstract
Magnesium is the fourth common cation in the human body and plays a crucial role in the activation of enzymes, cell metabolism, protein synthesis, and hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate. It is mainly present in the bone and muscles, and only 1% is present in the extracellular fluid. The incidence of hypomagnesemia is high in hospitalized patients.
