A variety of instructional strategies employing visual aids were developed to improve electronic maintenance training on a complex system (Improved Hawk). Large color photos of control/indicator panels, supplemented by color slides, were developed for use in the classroom. Supplementary exercises were developed for students to use while awaiting their turn on the equipment. Students receiving the experimental training demonstrated significantly greater facility in checks, adjustments, and fault isolation than did the control group.
