Item Analysis of Learning Progression Test of Carbon Transformation Process

Abstract
The Indonesian students' conceptual understanding of the energy in the carbon transformation processes has yet to been measured. To assess the student conceptual understanding, the instrument developed by Jin and Anderson was adopted. This research was to describe the item analysis using Rasch Model Analysis so could be used to assess the Indonesian students ' conceptual understanding of the energy concept. The instrument was tested to 168 high school students selected purposively in one public high school in Boyolali. The results show that the outfit MNSQ was ranged from 0,4 to 2.35, the outfit ZSTD was ranged from -6.8 to 8.8, the point measure correlation was ranged from 0.35 to 0.74, and the model standard error was ranged from 0.12 to 0.13 for all items, which means all items were valid. Moreover, the alpha Cronbach score was 0.74, item reliability was 0.94, and the person reliability test scored 0.70. Level difficulties show that five of twelve items were easy, and 7 of twelve were difficult. However, the person separation scored at 1.52, which indicated that the instrument has weak distinguishing power. Based on the overall findings, the instrument could be used to assess the Indonesian students'conceptual understanding of the energy concept in the carbon transformation processes.
