Abstract

The green revolution is implanted everywhere in the world, transforming biodiverse agroecosystems into monocultures dependent on synthetic agrochemicals. This paper argues that this agricultural revolution is a technoscientific revolution that, by profoundly transforming agricultural practices, has involved unprecedented relationships with nature and between humans, bringing different types of values into play that conflict with each other. Chemically synthesized pesticides and fertilizers, high yield hybrid varieties resistant to phyto-diseases are technoscientific devices that forcing agroecosystems, which causes a growing spiral of ecological and social degradation, also understood as risks and threats. La revolución verde se implanta en los cuatro rincones del planeta transformando los agroecosistemas biodiversos en monocultivos dependientes de agroquímicos de síntesis. En este artículo se defiende la tesis según la cual con esta revolución agrícola estamos ante una revolución tecnocientífica que, al transformar en profundidad las prácticas agrícolas genera relaciones inéditas con la naturaleza y entre humanos, poniendo en juego diferentes tipos de valores que entran en conflicto. Pesticidas y fertilizantes de síntesis química, variedades híbridas de alto rendimiento y resistentes a fitopatologías constituyen dispositivos tecnocientíficos al servicio del forzamiento de los agroecosistemas con cuyo uso se genera una espiral creciente de degradación ecológica y social traducida en riesgos y amenazas.
