USE OF POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE FIBERS (PET) FOR EROSION PROTECTION ON SLOPES

Abstract

Los deslizamientos de tierra constituyen uno de los mayores problemas en la construcción de taludes, que pueden ser causados por diversos factores como los cambios climáticos, las propiedades mecánicas de los suelos constitutivos, el aumento de la inclinación del talud, la altura del mismo, las fuerzas de infiltración, los terremotos, las fuerzas gravitacionales y los estados de tensión actuantes. Algunos métodos para evitar la infiltración, la erosión y reforzar la superficie del talud consisten en cubrir la superficie con materiales sintéticos, vegetación y suelos modificados, entre otros. Landslides constitute one of the biggest problems in the construction of slopes, which can be caused by various factors such as climatic changes, mechanical properties of the constituent soils, the increase in the inclination of the slope, the height of the slope, forces of seepage, earthquakes, gravitational forces and acting stress states. Some methods to prevent infiltration, erosion and reinforce the surface of the slope consist of covering the surface with synthetic materials, vegetation and modified soils, among others.
