Abstract
This study aims to identify, analyze, and explain the phenomenon of character education in children that occur in the Angklung Caruk Banyuwangi music festival in East Java, Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative approach to ethnographic methods. Data collection with observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses an ethnographic analysis model that consists of domain, taxonomic, componential, and cultural theme analysis. The results showed that in the Angklung Caruk Banyuwangi festival, there was a process of character education for children as festival participants. Character education is based on the cultural values of the Osing Banyuwangi community. Thus the Angklung Caruk festival is not merely a musical performance but is further a means of inheriting Osing's cultural values to the younger generation.Keywords
