An Optimized Protocol Method to Improve Energy Efficiency in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract
Energy efficiency is a key problem in Wireless Sensor networks because of the limited energy capacity of sensor nodes. There have been several works towards reducing energy consumption during the transfer of the packet to the base station and several clustering-based protocols have been found to improve network lifetime. In this research paper, a novel technique to reduce energy consumption has been proposed. The algorithm has been implemented using MATLAB and compared to existing LEACH and SEP protocol. The results obtained in terms of the number of dead nodes, several alive nodes, and throughput and packets transferred show the efficiency of the proposed protocol over the other two protocols.
