Letter to Editor (Response from author): Toward a universal electronic health record system
Journal of Biomedical Informatics , Volume 117; doi:10.1016/j.jbi.2021.103770
Abstract: COVID-19 has reinforced healthcare organizations to speak a common language to tackle the challenges of this pandemic. Using traditional health information systems (HISs) with different technologies in hospitals leads to usability and incompatibility issues because of islands of information. By reshaping data sharing frameworks, healthcare professionals will have the tools allowing them to exchange in real-time important patient health information. This information is needed to tackle the current crisis, and any we may face in the future.
