Abstract
In this paper, we analyzed Abdullah Âtif Tuzuner, who lived during the foundation years of Turkish Republic and specialized especially in the religious sciences as well as language and literature, and his Qur’an translation. In the first part; Tuzuner’s life, the tasks he undertook, his scholarly personality and his works are examined. Later, his Qur’an translation which is about to be forgotten among the others is analyzed. Considering the language of his translation, what is striking is that he tries to use Turkish equivalents of Arabic words as much as possible. Tuzuner's having a competent knowledge of Turkish also reflects to his work. Besides, Tuzuner’s extensive knowledge on religious sciences and Arabic takes attention considering his short explanations on the verses from tafsir works. Also, it is possible to say that Tuzuner pays attention to the meaning and context of the Qur’anic language in his translation.
