Abstract
The aim of this research is to improve students' learning mastery. This research uses qualitative and quantitative descriptive approach and this type of research is classroom action research. Methods of data collection using observation, test and documentation. The results obtained in this study is the result of student learning. This shows that in teaching and learning activities with contextual learning the students become very active. While student's learning completeness classically in cycle I reach 77,5% increase in cycle II to 90% so that only some student who have not finished their study. This suggests that STAD type cooperative learning can be considered as a learning model used by teachers. The conclusion that can be drawn from the data analysis and discussion is by applying STAD type cooperative learning can improve student learning outcomes. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion of the results of research on the application of STAD learning on student learning outcomes, it can be concluded the application of these methods can attract students to follow the teaching and learning activities to the end of the lesson with a pleasant learning environment that can lead to increased student learning outcomes.
