Abstract
This research aims to examine Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’s poem “Bendedir Korkusu” in the context of critical discourse analysis. In the discourse analyses that deal with literary texts, the discourse is examined by taking into account all the elements related to the discourse, such as the transpositional situations, how the person who creates the text prefers to do it, and so on. With the beginning of the discussion of the reflection of social, institutional, and individual elements in the discourses, it has been raised that the ideology hidden in the discourses should be examined in detail. The fact that ideology can be seen in written texts in more than one context requires that the implicit structure of works should be examined with an interdisciplinary perspective. Society and various contexts play a role in the formation of ideology, which can be defined as the beliefs, attitudes, and values of an individual. In the analysis of a literary work, it is important to reveal all the contexts, to ensure that language, society, and ideology transform and develop each other. In this study, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’s poem “Bendedir Korkusu” was examined with the method of critical discourse analysis. It has been determined that Tanpınar’s poetry was created by blending his point of view with Turkish culture, the ideas discussed and accepted in the world, and he reflected his ideology in his poetry.
